If you have a Mach E and feel screwed by the price slash, call Ford, or don't. LOL

No goodwill payment for me. We paid 78K for ours and never received anything back. Didn't know there was a goodwill thing.

It definitely would have sucked to buy a MME last month and see this price drop. But a year ago?

Here's the thing, every car's depreciation curve is gonna be different. Yeah, the MME's depreciation has been steeper than most. But the depreciation will slow. The car is worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

I guess I feel for people who like to trade in a car every 3-5 years, but I plan to hold this car for at least 10 years. So, I just don't care all that much about depreciation.

Maybe consider my approach. It's not unlike people who wig out when the DJIA drops. You've only lost money if you sell. I'm not saying your car is gonna rebound in value, but if you hang onto your car for a while you'll get the value out of it regardless of depreciation.

You signed the sales contact at the agreed price. There's nothing Ford will do. If you're making payments, you're still required to make payments regardless of vehicle value.

You're right. We will keep it until its pretty much done. All I wanted to do was share my conversation with Ford. Yes, I'm frustrated at the steep depreciation, but at the end of the day, it makes no difference in my life. I have had success calling manufactures before so I thought I'd try it here. I also thought, since the representative I spoke with said they had had several calls about this that some forum members might find the information useful, but I was wrong.

No payments here my friend. I'm not the smartest guy, but I know not to make payments on vehicles.

Meh, I’m okay with this. What happens to the car’s residual value doesn’t mean much to me. I am going to pay it off, keep the car until it’s too costly to maintain and then put it out to pasture. Am I going to buy another new Ford considering my experiences? Unlikely.

I took delivery of my GT just last Monday (2nd MME, by the way, so I obviously love the car). If I had taken delivery today my lease payment would be $100/month lower

I am going to be honest, it is hard for me to understand the anger. Reasonably, this can and has happened with so many cars and manufacturers over the years. It was one year ago. Ford nor anyone can predict the market for the car (or in this case BEV segment) you purchased into.

The materials that go into this technology can change, sentiment can improve or waiver. Anyone buying the car should know the minute they buy a car, it is a sunk cost. Buy it with the expectation you will enjoy it, not that it will miraculously hold ANY value.

The bright side is you can get a 2023 cheaper (which also help make up for part of your loss). Dealers do this all the time to move inventory.

I know it sucks in some way when hindsight is 20/20, but come on, it was a year ago.
I'm with you on this. I actually traded my 21 premium on a 23.5 gtpe late september, the week prior to the first wave of massive cuts. It hurt but that's life. Always risky being early adopters for different tech.

I think you win the trophy, so far.
LOL, how bout me, I took delivery Sept 27th of the GTPE I ordered, the following monday Oct 1 (?) they announced up to 9 or 10k off gtpes. That was painful. I had traded my 21 premium in. In retrospect, should've kept the 21. oh well.

I've always advocated for market pricing and I'm glad Ford and other OEMs are dropping the prices of new cars. Yes, your trade in is worth less, but so is the new car that you will buy. It all even out, except for the few that will be too old to drive and this is their last car. In which case, why would they care. They will be to senile to notice.

lower prices helps mostly everyone....eventually.

Probably the best thing to do is wait for another war/oil price spike, and then see your non-oil using EV rise in value, then... SELL SELL SELL!!!

My Econ teacher taught me that in any transaction, both parties always come out ahead. If not, one of them wouldn't agree to it. When I bought mine two and half years ago, it was not uncommon for dealers to severely mark up the cars due to supply shortages.

As to resale value, I don't buy cars with a plan to sell it. I'm glad it has intrinsic value, but I buy my cars so I can drive them. I hope to be driving this one for another 10-15 years. I'm sure not bored with it yet.

When you signed on the bottom line, you considered the car to be worth what you were paying. Enjoy that purchase. And be happy for the lucky people who get an even better deal now.
