@EVinsulate is now officially selling its EVglass solution for the Mach-E. Head on over to evinsulate.com to order yours.

Big thanks to @Mach-Lee for proving the benefits of creating a thermal break for the panoroof to reduce cold weather heat loss/convection cooling of the cabin here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ing-taking-requests.24393/page-10#post-595252

@EVinsulate created the EVglass kit for the Mach-E working with owners in Ontario here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...-work-with-evinsulate-for-a-mach-e-kit.33596/

I and a few other members so far have purchased and installed the EVglass kit on our Mach-Es and so far the results are fantastic. It maintains the factory look and feel of the cabin while dramatically reducing the draft you feel off the panoroof in the winter and at highway speeds. The kit was fantastic, well thought out, and very well made. Follow the instructions fully and take your time with prep and install is a snap. I give it 5 stars.

Does it keep heat out in the summer?
The same principle should work whether heating or cooling, yes. However, I only have experience with cold weather testing this so far, @EVinsulate should be able to speak to this from using the same product in Teslas in the summer though.

Debating this vs tint on the roof. I typically get window tint on the roof glass to keep out heat in the summer on my other vehicles.
They are roughly the same cost. Tint is about $100-$150 for the roof.

That is really cool. I've seen people with opaque covers and didn't like that. I've actually been very impressed with how much the glass roof keeps the sun from beating down on me. In other vehicles I've closed the sun roof cover when the sun is overhead. It hasn't bothered me in the Mach-E. I haven't really noticed feeling cold from the roof on really cold days. But I could see buying one of these next winter.

How much of a range improvement are you actually seeing?
That's a great question, but I unfortunately don't have a precise answer for that one.

I can say it helps in terms of cabin comfort and helping to maintain temperature with less external interference. In terms of efficiency there is a gain for climate control efficiency but I'm not sure if there's a huge or appreciable range gain form it.

My focus for this was improving cabin comfort when it's really cold outside, which this does well. so I didn't pay much attention to range. @Mach-Lee could probably answer this better based on all his data collection with reflectix insulation.

When it’s really cold, range will be the same, you’ll just be warmer (heater is already maxed out).

When it’s warmer it will probably only save a couple hundred watts of heat. If I do the math, it’s only to be about 1-2% improvement in range. So not enough to notice. Day to day variability is much greater than that for me.

So buy it for comfort, not for range.

Double pane windows in buildings are useful during the summer as well, they create that same air gap that form a barrier between hot and cold which will reduce AC requirements. Also, the UV glass that's used for glass roofs absorbs the UV radiation which turns to heat, the glass gets really hot which radiates onto the occupants. The EVglass panels stay much cooler so you don't get that radiant effect as much.

Yeah I'm looking at it just because the pop up solar shade I have makes noise and I didn't use the magnets in the middle (OCD). I'm just trying to cut that heat radiating from the glass. It's all of 74 today, I can burn myself on the roof if I touch it.

Just curious @EVinsulate is there enough headliner gap I could pop my solar cover back in as well? (It uses little tabs to stick into the headliner piece. I'd assume the glass adhesive isn't too thick but the glass might be?

I have only done the range testing in the Model 3 which showed a 24% reduction in range loss at -10C/14F. The Model 3 EVglass covers more area than the Mach-e so it wouldn't make quite as much of a difference.

I had someone try this on their Model Y and it worked, so probably also on the Mach-e?

I do want this. Two in fact. I’ll have a couple other financial priorities right now but I’ll keep the link handy.

Hi,
I can confirm the EVinsulate panel keeps the cabin warmer in the winter.
We had a flash freeze and a cold front roll through last night and today. Unfortunately I had to be out in that mess.
Cabin was much warmer than before I had the panel.
I have touched the inside of the pano roof while out in the cold before. Always felt cold, like touching the side windows.
The new panel is warm when you touch it on cold days.
I would recommend it for sure.
