This has happened for the last 4 charge sessions at home - only after 6.8 update. I’ve set to charge to 85%.

Not really a problem unless I want to update the charge to 90 or 100%. Have to unplug and plug back in.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Is it possibly an issue with the emporia EVSE? I know I was having issues with charging with my Juicebox. The Juicebox people logged in cleared the errors and reset everything to fix ti.

I never got 6.8, and haven’t had my car for weeks. If I happen to get both I’ll keep you updated.

I have an Emporia EVSE and am not having any problems when charging stops. I am running 6.13.0 and have my charging set to 90%.

Are you setting a schedule on the EVSE or does it allow charging 24/7?

I have two Emporia chargers, one on each side of the garage and use them both depending on where I park or if charging two cars at the same time. Typically the charger is set to charge on "Excess Solar" but we haven't had much sun the last few days and needed it fully charged for a trip this afternoon. Last night plugged in and set charger to charge on "Off-Peak Hours". The car started charging at midnight when my utility's off-peak hours started and finished about an hour ago. No errors (have never had any) and my car is fully updated using FDRS.

I occasionally have a charge station fault upon initially plugging in, but have never seen an error at the end of charge.

I am running 6.8 plus a few priority updates, set to charge to 80% in the car on a schedule. Emporia is set to charge 24/7.

Emporia set for 24x7 - we are on NEM 1 so don’t have to fret about TOU yet ?

I’ll log a ticket with Emporia and see if they see anything. Thanks everyone!!!

Hi OP,

We have some insights that should help:

When you have SOC in the car, the car will reach that percentage and stop requesting power.
No issues here.

The car gets to the % set, stops requesting power, charger stops sending power. If you change the SOC in the vehicle, it's not necessary to unplug and plug back, since the only thing that actually changes for the Emporia EV Charger is that "the car requests or does not request power".

In this case, when SOC is set to a higher number (from 80 to 90, for example), you don't need to inform the charger, since the car keeps requesting. The charger does not know which is the SOC, the charger just obeys when the car stops requesting power, and stops sending power, opening the circuit, so no power flows.

Yes, I posted elsewhere here (the thread about charging faults related to not being plugged in fully) that I get the exact same fault at the end of the charging maybe 20% of the time with my hardwired Emporia. It started doing that after an update late last summer on the MME. It started well before 6.8.

I don't think the Emporia firmware updated since I installed it and it never had this problem for the prior 9 months or so.

It doesn't bother me too much as I rarely need to charge above my 80% setting. But yes, if when I do, I must unplug and plug back in.

Mine is charging now, but Ford pass refuses to show it charging. I did get an update which I guess might have stopped the charge. I heard the car stop charging so I went over and unplugged and plugged it a few times I guess while the update was running. Comms went down about then so I might not get a good result.

Many thanks for the response!!

Unfortunately in this case it doesn’t allow me to increase the SOC - the ford app reports charge station fault and the orange lights are on at the plug. Need to unplug and replug to add more charge.

Not a stopper - just a very minor annoyance.

I don’t have an issue, but software wise I’m pretty far behind.

I've seen it a few times in the last couple of months. I didn't see it 4 times in a row like you. I'm not sure what's causing it.

Just filed a ticket with Emporia for the same issue. The last time my car was at the dealer for the HVJB recall, I asked them to check on this behavior. The dealer claimed they pulled codes from the charging system and could see that the Emporia charger doesn't always shut off the charge current/voltage in time when the car asks for it to be shut off. This apparently is what causes the charge fault on the car. It's happened to me over the past couple of years fairly infrequently, and if it did happen, it was mostly in the winter, and never in the summer. This winter, however, it seems to be about 50% of the time. Unplugging / replugging solves it most of the time (although sometimes I've had to do that 2 or 3 times in a row).
In the chat with Emporia, they claimed already that there was nothing wrong with my charger, but they'll investigate.
I did try to charge my car on another charger a few times, and none of those sessions resulted in a fault.... So it's likely a compatibility problem between the charger & the car. But I'm sure it'll be Ford pointing to Emporia and Emporia pointing to Ford...
