I've never been a "Mustang" guy, so when I hear "that's not a mustang", I say I agree, it's a Mach-E. I wouldn't mind more space in the back. 2 sets of golf clubs barely fit. I'm only calling it an SUV until I get my tax credit, then it's a car.

you have to wonder how petty a person can be to actually take the time to write a note saying "it's not a mustang" amazing. But to be honest never really paid attention to real mustangs as I never thought they were all that. BTW, interestingly enough I was at a restaurant and a guy walked up to me and we had a long conversation about the mach e, said he loved mustangs and had a 2013 GT and that he really liked the mach e and laughed when I told him the whole "it's not a real mustang" nonsense.

I remember when "everyone" in the mustang community was mad about v6s, calling them not real mustangs... that actually outsold the GTs. Then the ecoboost moved those goal posts, now those people are hung up on the Mach E. Mustang is just a brand, an awesome one.
My Mach E would destroy my old 08 w/ gears and tune.

The GTPE would smoke about 99% mustangs on the road. I don’t go around putting “get a faster car, this is a dog in comparison to mine and mine’s just an SUV” notes when I see them lol.

At first I felt the same way having owned 11 "real" Mustangs over the years. Bought our MME a few weeks ago and find it to be an incredible car for the current 2023 price (yea the 0% financing helps). I have both so I can tell myself to get a real Mustang and then turn around to see it.

sounds like a girl wrote it “ugh” but then again some guys are panzys. They are a mustang , just a different part of the stable. Enjoy your car and blow off the b.s I have had both from “mustang owners” most good really want to see it and of course ask if it runs like a stang, Why it sure does BYE! ????️

I am not even kidding - but one person straight up asked my wife if this was a Ferrari. The question was downright genuine and we got a smile out of it.

I had the same Ferrari response in the early days in 2021. I responded that they at least both have horse symbols. There was also a well informed elderly lady who responded, “Is that one of those electric Mustangs?”

The only "real" mustangs in my opinion are 1965 to 1970. everything else is a different car. So unless they own one of those....

That note is in line with my thinking. I didn't want a Mustang. I wanted an SUV. Couldn't care less what they call it. To me, it's a Mach-E.

Only real question needed if someone brings it up is, "Oh did Ford say they were renaming it?", because since the origin of the Mustang it's been a Ford vehicle, if Ford calls it a Mustang, well, tough luck. Maybe don't tie so much of your personality up in defending the nameplate of a multi-billion dollar brand that never even gives you a thought unless you miss a payment or are due for a new vehicle.

As others have posted, the identity of the Mustang has changed many times, and taking even engines away it would be a stretch to call the current gen Mustang a "Mustang" if going with traditional configuration. It's more a pure, almost European, Sports Car than it is a traditional muscle car. Even the most modest MME would easily out 0-60 most previous "Real" Mustangs.

In the end I don't much care what they call it, it's a great vehicle.
