You moved the Sketch app to make it easier to find… but trunk access is still buried under settings?

Opening the trunk is not a setting. It is a common function. So common that cars almost always come with a physical button, usually near the driver’s left knee. The Mach E replaced that with a max defrost button, even though that already exists on the SYNC Home Screen.

So if keeping score, that’s TWO ways to activate max defrost with a single tap - ZERO ways to pop the trunk with a single tap.

Instead, I have to first tap into settings, and then hunt for the little trunk button. This is ANNOYING when I’m picking up / dropping off kids and they want me to pop the trunk. It takes more time and thought than it should.

PLEASE PIN TRUNK ACCESS TO THE TOP RIBBON OF HOME SCREEN, @Ford Motor Company.
Agreed! I’ve been meaning to ask what everyone’s thoughts were on why we have a physical max defrost button. A physical button for the trunk and/or frunk would have seemed much more useful.

2021 Job1 cars can have the software installed on them to release the frunk electronically. There are two modules that must be updated (Body Control Module, Generic Function Module). Additionally, there is a configuration update that needs to be applied to activate the button on the center screen. Once those are all done, the car must report back to Ford’s servers the software levels of these items. This usually happens after an OTA update. Once the servers know your software is correct for the frunk release, the FordPass app will have a frunk button in it. According to a recent post by Ford, the 6.14 OTA package addresses all of these items. ??
So does this mean I can stop asking my dealer for the BCM and GFM update? Doesn't seem like it from the @Ford Motor Company OP. I'm kind of done with their confused looks and we can't do that responses. I have Job 1 (May 2021 build)

A quick update for us eurotards; According to Ford's chat service (within FordPass), this update will be available for us in late summer if everything goes according to plan. Wish Ford (central) would be kind to inform us that the release time depends on region, as well as expected release time for the various regions in the future.

It‘s a safety thing. The idea is that the car should remain drivable even if the center screen dies. The hard button for Max Defrost ensures you can see where you’re going if that were to happen. Of course, that doesn’t mean they couldn’t ALSO have a hard button for the trunk. And add one for the frunk while they’re at it.

Or even a soft button on the main screen for the trunk instead of buried a level deeper.

In other words, Europe will get it before me ?

Interesting. But there’s not an equivalent hard button for rear defrost.

I have one other EV (Rivian) that only has that defrost button on the screen.

I don’t think it’s a mandate. Just a safety choice Ford made.
Having max front defrost available is a requirement. How it is implemented is not. But if it is only on the screen and the screen dies or has a widespread issue where it won't turn on due to a memory issue like Tesla had, then you have to issue a recall. By having a hard button as backup then if the screen fails you are still compliant

We already have a physical release for the frunk. It’s purely mechanical and can only be used with the driver’s door open. ??

Can we increase three rolling speed!!

I know I'm probably still not use the frunk (after 3+ years I almost forget it's there), but I keep getting teased that "one of these days!!!!" Can we make it today?
