Could definitely be something like this. I think I tend to drive with my hand right in front of the sensor. I regrettably was unaware the car actually did this.
Yeah, if you drive center-handed that'll do it. It's a pretty shitty sensor location that certain hand-on-wheel positions can block it. Had they put it on the side of the screen, it wouldn't be an issue. When it doesn't like the hand position I'll just switch to the knee.

Would have been better if it was near the rear view mirror.

It yells at me when I drive with a hand at 12:00, when I take too long taking a sip of coffee or water, or if I fiddle with the silly on-screen climate system for too long.

Funny that of those three scenarios, the only one that actually takes my eyes and concentration off of the road is the one caused by the design of the car (all of the big-screen controls).

Yeah I am a big 12:00 driver guy. I am thinking this is the culprit.

Oh wow interesting. I guess I really do need to keep my eyes on the road. I will be conscious of that and see if that solves it.
Yes, you DO need to keep your eyes on the road and pay attention to the driving environment. Outside of Mercedes Benz under some very limited conditions and only in a few geographic areas, there are no cars sold to consumers today that offer a feature where the driver can stop paying attention to the driving environment.

You’re blocking the cameras when you hold your hand at 12. You’re probably either looking away or blocking the cameras when you’re drinking coffee.

Does anybody else have the issue with their cruise control where they set it, and then a few minutes later it starts to beep and say something like "keep eyes on the road" and I think there is another warning but I can't remember exactly what it says. This has happened to me when in the blue cruise mode and also not in blue cruise. I am thinking it may get triggered by any kind of phone usage but I can't quite pinpoint the trigger yet. It makes using cruise control extremely inconvenient.

Outside of this I am absolutely loving my MME.
What is your hand position? If you block the camera with your hand or arms it will howl at you.

This is pretty funny. Did it not dawn on you that when not looking at the road, the vehicle was prompting you to do so. It's almost as if it has IR eye trackers watching your eyes providing some feedback about watching the road were functioning as intended.

Just feed it to gemini and ask questions.
Too be fair when I get this I tend to stare at the camera to make it go away

The culprit while drinking coffee is my cup tilted up in front of my eyes to get the last drops of the sweet nectar of the gods. Blocks the IR cam but I'm still looking at the road.

Maybe you can draw a couple of eyes with a sharpie on the bottom of your mug (or on your forearm)...

Used it today. No warning at all. Guess I must be keeping my hands on the wheel and looking at the road.;) But seriously, there was an update to the eye position sensors.

I really don't think I am doing all that much hence why I use the hands free technology. I am surely not texting and driving or reading this lovely forum and driving. I feel like another person said there is a chance the car is being overly sensitive. I mean part of driving is also being aware of the other cars around me so it could be i'm setting it off when merging or changing lanes.
You really need to read the manual. When changing lanes or merging you're not using handsfree... Your hand at 12 is the issue, plain and simple.

Maybe you can draw a couple of eyes with a sharpie on the bottom of your mug (or on your forearm)...
Really poor advice when you can simply buy Googly Eyes and glue them to your arm...

Yes I agree. After reading comments and thinking on it the issue is definitely my hand being at the 12 position. I have never needed to read the manual for any of the other cars I owned but obviously this one is a bit different. I am going to read it over.
