The only confirmed new hardware is the new electric motor. There are a few issues here, not the least of which is new hardware for the 2024 model. I’m pretty sure that max output is higher with the new hardware than with the existing hardware. ??
I don’t see extending the limit as being negated by this, but the mix of LK9Z-10C666-B and LK9Z-10C666-C parts, plus the unknown HVBJB part in the 2024 GT and Rally makes extending the limit on a 2021-2023 model GT a bit iffy. Based on reports on the forum, a GT with a -A part is already stressing its HVBJB at 5 seconds (mine blew up with 3/4 throttle). A -B is still being stressed at 5 seconds, just somewhat less. The -C part has been in circulation for just under half a year, so we don’t know how badly 5 seconds messes with it. Hopefully, the -C part and whatever is in the 2024 will be able to take the stress of the projected 8-9 second limit. We shall see. ??
There is nothing still to let us to believe the power limit is related to the HVBJB. We know the ones that failed were due to bad design. They didn’t break because of horsepower.
Yes, if you got a “bad unit,” it likely failed faster from driving fast or charging. But the cause was still the design.
But either way, if the 2024 is using the same battery and can take power for longer…… so can we.
My guess/hope for the order of events-
Step 1- recall hvbJb
Step 2- release 2024 with perf upgrade
Step 3- release perf upgrade to older models
What they should do though is give us a FREE OTA update to fix the power limit, but also the option to pay for more horsepower and tq.
