There are a few issues here, not the least of which is new hardware for the 2024 model. I’m pretty sure that max output is higher with the new hardware than with the existing hardware. ??

I don’t see extending the limit as being negated by this, but the mix of LK9Z-10C666-B and LK9Z-10C666-C parts, plus the unknown HVBJB part in the 2024 GT and Rally makes extending the limit on a 2021-2023 model GT a bit iffy. Based on reports on the forum, a GT with a -A part is already stressing its HVBJB at 5 seconds (mine blew up with 3/4 throttle). A -B is still being stressed at 5 seconds, just somewhat less. The -C part has been in circulation for just under half a year, so we don’t know how badly 5 seconds messes with it. Hopefully, the -C part and whatever is in the 2024 will be able to take the stress of the projected 8-9 second limit. We shall see. ?‍♂?
The only confirmed new hardware is the new electric motor.

There is nothing still to let us to believe the power limit is related to the HVBJB. We know the ones that failed were due to bad design. They didn’t break because of horsepower.

Yes, if you got a “bad unit,” it likely failed faster from driving fast or charging. But the cause was still the design.

But either way, if the 2024 is using the same battery and can take power for longer…… so can we.

My guess/hope for the order of events-

Step 1- recall hvbJb
Step 2- release 2024 with perf upgrade
Step 3- release perf upgrade to older models

What they should do though is give us a FREE OTA update to fix the power limit, but also the option to pay for more horsepower and tq.

This is the way. It would be nice if Ford sees that. All I want is a free OTA relaxing the limitation a bit, as promised. If there is an additional paid performance upgrade, I might do that too, and it would really restore the faith that all of the people who bought a “performance” model got what they paid for. It doesn’t have to do a 11.8 quarter mile, but let’s say, a 12 or 12.1 consistently, and I think everyone would be happy. It would also make people like me come back to the Mach-E for the 3rd gen, instead of this being their last Ford.

Looks like the charging improvements ie. range and charge speed is for the ER model that comes with NCM battery.
Just casual perusal of 2024 MMEs...
Window sticker for 2024 SR LFP indicates same range as 2023 at 400km.
Window sticker for 2024 AWD ER shows an increase from 467km to 483km.

Pano roof is now option for Premium. Boo!

Love my Space White, but having seen both new colors in person, Glacier Gray Metallic looks like a slightly darker Space White, and Eruption Green looks really nice in person. Love the new wheel options on the GTs, and the performance package is nice too. I will say in all my time owning my GTPE I have never thought "man, if I could just get to 1/4 mile a little faster this would be perfect" ?

This definitely sounds like we are going to be able to get it! Probably just scaled down. But let's hope it comes out before many of us are due to end our options term, because if we don't have it and decide to turn in our cars, the resale is going to suffer.

I think it's in Ford's best interest to get it released early/mid summer.

I don’t mind waiting, and I don’t mind a slightly scaled down version. My car doesn’t have to be the fastest Mach-E, but it also should live up to the performance name that was given to it by Ford. Cutting power significantly because it’s too cold outside (50 F), there’s been 5 seconds on throttle, it’s too hot outside (90 F), the battery is only at 50 percent state of charge or some other seemingly random factor doesn’t seem like a performance model to me.

Best interest to release it now. Like now now. We are very impatient after waiting 30 months and now even more so knowing someone else has something we don’t.

Not to mention, getting it at a less expensive price point, and we know it’s only software based, and the first wave of buyers were sold something that was slightly misrepresented by Ford. They need to make this up to the early adopters.

It will be next available on the 2025 GT, because it, too, is built with the required hardware. Then 2026, and so on.

I hope you’re wrong, but it’s annoying how Ford writes announcements like this.

So vague, poorly worded and open to interpretation.

What ever happened to straight talk. If you’re never going to change the limits or if you plan on changing the limits, just F’ing tell us already!

When a VP does an interview that says “we will change that limit” via OTA…… we all rightfully assume that means for existing owners, not just future model years.

Call me in the minority, but if they just pushed the charge speed bonus and didn’t touch anything else via OTA I’d be a very happy Ford MME owner. It would be an appreciated quality of life upgrade for roadtrips and help future proof the car (somewhat) imo.
