I can't go that far, but I am concerned that an OTA can break the car, and it's the owner's responsibility to cover the costs to fix it. That's unacceptable. I'd turn off OTA's at this point except that I was induced to renew BlueCruise when 1.4 was supposedly arriving in November 2023, and I'd like to *finally* receive what I paid for.
Yep, I am in that camp too. I ponied up the $600 at the end of December when I started to get updates again earlier in the month and thought I was on the cusp of 1.3, but now that I'm over the 3 years I'm seriously considering turning off OTA and just being happy with 1.0 until my options plan expires next February and I move on. Otherwise I really like the car, but at this point I am SOL with random updates potentially causing serious problems. I've never ever bought an extended warranty, but given Ford's policies I regret not getting one now.

I still may keep the car after the options, but I am not liking the vibe coming from Dearborn. The problem is I won't go back to an ICE and there aren't a lot of even moderately reliable choices. GM and VW clearly have serious software problems of their own, and I refuse to give Elon a penny.

Reading this topic, I'm just over 31k miles now. I think it has convinced me to buy the extended warranty but not blue cruise.

You hit the nail on the head. It's exhausting!!
Along with trying your luck on social media, you might be able to get a traditional media company to pick up the story. It’s remarkable how quickly companies become cooperative when a reporter from a publication like the New York Times or Ars Technica reaches out to them for comment on an upcoming story. Since OTA updates are spreading beyond the EV niche, a major automaker indicating that it won’t pay for damage caused by its updates might actually get traction.

My understanding with the extended warranty is that there is a deductible. It's still $100+tax for most visits to the dealership, which when due to Ford's software problems, is still very absurd.

Is there anything in the EULA, warranty documentation, etc. that explicitly states how long software is warranted for?

That's my concern about almost any modern car these days. Look at the mobile phone market. Security updates (outside of Apple) stop within 2-3 years, leaving people exposed to serious risk.

In this case, if the car is allowed to receive updates, and updates break something, there should be verbiage that states what is and is not covered and for how long.

At some point, I'd think they would have a kill switch for OTAs when they plan on not supporting a certain model or model year.

I have a Job 1, 21, and while I do not worry about it - I do wonder in the next 6 months to 2-3 years when it'll be "out of support".

My understanding is you can purchase the extended warranty with or without a deductible, the version without the deductible costing more.

Same issue here and I’ve had more than one incident where the IPS screen goes black or displays the charging screen while driving. Tempted to file a report with the NHSTA all over again. This is after having three HVJB parts replaced already and being stranded twice. Also had the parking break issue with the rear harness and knocking when turning that the dealer “can not consistently reproduce but they did notice it occasionally”

Essentially we've all bought computers on wheels with a 3 year warranty built by a company that is mid at best at computer programming.

I don’t know much about this sort of thing but could you just pursue this in small claims court? That shouldn’t be too time consuming (probably less time than multiple trips to the dealer). I just quickly searched google and found this:

Before you file a small claim, the easiest and best way to start is to send them a formal demand letter for your costs via certified mail with return receipt. Below are some tips for writing such a letter:

I've have Neverending problems with Blue Cruise since I bought my 2023 mme gt. EVERY SINGLE OTA UPDATE causes it to not functioning properly and to go into the shop for a week for them to diagnose and solve the problem. I have had multiple modules replaced along the way (communication, steering, abs, modem, camera and something called a TPE).

The last major OTA update in December caused Blue Cruise to fail when I was cruising at 70mph in a curve. Without warning âš  a red symbol come up on the screen and the car let go of the steering wheel causing the car to cut across 2 lanes before I regained control... Then Blue Cruise wouldn't operate at all.

The car has been in and out of the shop for a total of 7 weeks since that happened with them trying all sorts of BS to fix. They even flew a master engineer in from Detroit. They've done a master reset and reprogramed all the software, replaced more modules and STILL, the Blue Cruise doesn't operate correctly.

F this car. I hired an attorney!
