Did you already have your HVBJB replaced with the latest version?
My car was manufacturered just after they got the new part in, so no, I haven't yet. I don't anticipate any HVBJB problems.

When I go on a road trip, I consider every leg I can do on a two-lane backroad a plus. The MME is designed to do that very well. If there is a park, a roadside historical marker, something else interesting, stop, get out of the car, that's what a road trip is about. As of early 2024 this can involve a little range anxiety. But there was that on my 1965 first cross country road trip in another red Mustang for other reasons.

How did Tesla drivers react to seeing your MME charging at a Supercharger?
Most sat in their car and ignored us. A few came over to talk with us. Not a one complained about us taking up 2 spaces, which happened about half the time. Probably because there were alway free spots, so no one was forced to wait for us to clear out.

I am planning to get the SC extension cord when it is released by A2Z and/or Tesla. They are both working on one. Then I can avoid taking up two chargers with my one car.

In most cases, I think you will find it unnecessary. In all but 1 of our 31 charging sessions, there were many open stalls. In that case, so what if we took up 2 stalls? Plus, in close to half of our charging sessions, there was a stall oriented so we could pull right up to it, like shown in photo 1, and therefore only occupy 1 stall.

If you road trip a lot, no question you will use an extension cord, but, IMHO, not enough to justify it. Plus, the Tesla cords are liquid cooled and are therefore small and easy to handle. I can't imagine how heavy an extension cord will need to be to support 150 kW+.

this is a great writeup. Just from your writeup I think as everyone surmised, the attention of the 12k or so tesla chargers is a game changer for travel.

Great post and write up. Glad you had such a great long trip. Too bad you can't road trip in a BEV ?

Also, personally, if I had Lamborghini money to spend, there'd be a Sapphire or new Taycan in my driveway (leaning towards a Taycan).

The Sapphire is insane. 0-60 in less than 2 seconds. The Lambo would be lumbering behind!

100% agree with this. When I had to use the EV connect cable, I wondered why all the other vendor's just didn't copy Tesla's design.
Ford is working on it to make it happen by 2024 to have same connect adapter

One of the friends we visited has been pretty successful and had a Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato in the driveway. Tried to show it up with the Mach-E, but no. Incredible car.

Amazing trip report.
Zero to criticize.

Lambo is awesome.
Charging experience is fantastic to hear.
Mach-E is so much more fun and plenty comfortable vs those hybrid appliances.

But best of all is I could hear how much the road trip itself was enjoyed. That wouldn't be true if a Mach-E was the wrong way to go. :)

Thanks for the write-up. I can sense the joy of your road trip!! Can't wait to need to use my Adapter sometime soon.
