Will I ever be able to "tweak" my 2021 GT to get more performance? Is Ford going to offer any options?

I'm a car guy. I have put larger intercoolers and custom tunes on my last two trucks. I built a Factory Five roadster from the ground up, put a Gen2 Coyote V8 crate motor in it, then upgraded the air intake to a Gen 3, another custom tune, etc.. I think the tech in EVs is cool, I love the Mach-E but since it is mostly a closed system, it's so much more "appliance like" than ICE cars to me. If I want better performance, I have to replace it with a newer or different model. I would gladly pay money to Ford for a "performance tune" or software upgrade to get past the 5-second limit, for example. In my Raptor I threw about $1K into it to upgrade to a larger intercooler and custom tune that gave me an additional 75HP peak. I am kind of bummed that it seems like I will never be able to do something like that to the Mach-E. Thoughts?

According to Donna Dickson, the number 1 engineer in charge of the Mach-e, Ford is investigating the application of several improvements already made to the 2024 for legacy Mach-e cars. I wouldn’t hold my breath on the fruits of the investigations hitting the OTA wagon any time soon. Look at how long it has been since the Job2 2021 cars came out and how many 2021 Job1 cars don’t have a functioning frunk button either in FordPass or on their center screen. ?‍♂?

At the moment the best you can do is remove those frunk dividers for some weight loss.

At the moment, Ford still hasn’t said “no.” But they sure are taking their damn time!!

Last July VP Darren Palmer said “we will change that limit” via OTA when asked this question.

This week Donna Dickson said “we are still investigating it.”

A couple years ago Shelby seems to have given up on the idea of any aftermarket power increases.

That’s about it for now.

I've got a 23.5 gtpe but I don't really think any pre 24 cars are going to see enhancements.

I’m almost certain that the ‘21-‘23 cars will not see an enhancement before my Options Plan loan is due for its balloon payment at the end of 2025. I will probably wait until my GT-PE is 9-10 years old until I decide to find something else. By then, there should be a lot of options. ?‍♂?

That is hilarious! I would consider a sound enhancement, but only if I could make it sound like a Jetsons car or the Millennium Falcon
I don’t know if they have done it yet, but futuristic sounds is something they promised.

Ford definitely has had plenty of time to develop the software. They’ve also had plenty of time to test it (Darren Palmer referenced testing for reliability last summer). So here is my theory:

It’s planned, but they are waiting on two things:
1. 2024s to hit the street, get reviews and start selling. “New and improved” is only special if it’s unique to the new model. When that wears off, it’s ok to speed up the old models.

2. The HVBJB recall to be completed. Likely a prerequisite of unleashing more power.

If they do decide to offer the performance upgrade to previous models (and that’s a big IF), you should expect to pay for the privilege (probably about $1500 or whatever they decide).

Which is insane, not just because it wasn’t advertised with the 5 second limit, but with all the price cuts now, we paid way more than current buyers!
