Any 12V source will be suitable for opening the frunk. It's not like jumping an ICE car where you need to support a surge of current to the starter.
Depending on your situation, a dedicated device may be overkill. (I've never had to jump my frunk open in 3+ yrs)

I am aware of the leads in the front bumper for opening the frunk when you have a dead 12 V battery

To ensure I purchase the correct type of device, I am looking for good options.

This item is on the Amazon Canada website and I believe it is what I need, or something similar.
Where are you going to keep this device? In the car? Then you won't be able to get it...

Totally unnecessary IMO.

Too bad they don’t make something small enough where you could put it behind the door with some Velcro on the charging port??

I'm not willing to spend too much money on something like this. But being retired, the MME doesn't get driven nearly as much as the average person on here. So I tend to be a bit paranoid about the 12V

Yep...I thought of that aspect. It would only help me if the 12V dies when it is parked in the garage since it would be trapped in the vehicle if in the glovebox or whatever.

I have a 12v battery in the basement, part of a sump pump backup system. I guess that could do the job if ever required.

Right.

So if you have any 12v battery in the garage (Riding lawnmower, other vehicle, or simply 8 1.5v batteries, you'd be all set.

Wouldn't that be nice!
I use this and I could take it out of the car every time I park stick it up behind one of the wheels. No one would notice it most likely then just put it away when you’re ready to go it’ll be outside the car lol, yes, I know what if you forget it’s there, time to buy a new one?

I remember someone showing in Tesla forums at one point about taping a battery to the wires behind the plug. I don’t remember what battery it was, it was a specialty voltage battery (lithium maybe?). It wasn’t the full 12V but was enough to open it. Likely similar for the ford. Then you leave the booster in the frunk.

I seem to recall a 9V battery might actually work. But I could be imagining that.

Hold on I was reading this and my wife was speaking Japanese to me at the same time now I’m totally confused?
