I am one of you who suffers from locked out OTAs since August 2023 and have posted my attempts to get my OTAs “unstuck” all without success for me. Today I may have found the key.

In early April the dealer service for the 23B50 and 23S56 recalls was completed. My dealer stated that all modules in need would be reprogrammed.

In late April (still no OTAs) I contacted the Ford 833.389.0848 number which had me go thru what I believe was a reset of a modem previously.

Still no updates.

Today I contacted the 833 center and they accessed my car and confirmed that my settings were correct (duh). So my VIN has been assigned to a case number so that the dealership will update the appropriate modules. I am now waiting to heat from them to get the appointment.

From my communications with the Ford Center I believe they have now assigned a case to attach VINs to, that gives the dealership the instruction to fix our issue. That case # is CAS-49856762-D8R0GB (that a zero, not an O). I believe that culprit is the GWM (GateWay Module).

What say you @Mach-Lee? Thanks for all of your guidance.

The dealer can update all current available updates, but it won’t restart your OTAs unfortunately.

If somehow something has changed, let us know it works out!

You do not have a GWM update available. It's likely a dependency issue. They will have to update your other modules and see if it shows up. I would start with the powertrain modules as well as the BCM+GFM. If no GWM shows up then they will have to put in a ticket for additional support.

2022 GT. OTA updates stopped a while ago. I just came back from the dealer for 22B48 and 23B50. I asked the dealer if they would please bring software updates to current. They replied that I am 10 updates behind and they want $1020 to update all ten. @Ford I hope you are watching this because it is the most outrageous thing I have ever heard. A software update costs nothing, it should be happening OTA. I love the car but the software has a lot of bugs and this behavior is unacceptable.

That is not true. It costs labor for the time the technician needs to spend on doing the updates. Ford does not pay for updates under warranty unless the update is being done to fix an issue.

They should be happening OTA, but Ford is behind on OTA deployments.

If you're lucky, you might be able to find another owner with the equipment to do updates locally, and get them all done for like $100.

There is a thread on here about FDRS updates (you’ll know its the right one because of the hundreds of replies) that you can post in and maybe find someone. I found one in Maryland a year or so ago to get my 2021 frunk buttons added.

I guess I got lucky other than probably having to pay for a couple of days because they had my car more than 10 days for the rental, 10 days was guaranteed for no payment for loaner under warranty, so they’re doing all my updates that I have not been getting with a new car, Like I said, I guess I’m lucky?
Then again after speaking to the Bev team, I need to wait till I pick the car up tomorrow to see if they do charge me for those extra days for the rental, if they do, I was told to call back and see what they can do.

If you’re under warranty it should be free. Find another dealer.

You can also start a claim with the BEV team.

The issue is that a warranty claim has to be tied to something being broken so the dealer can get paid.

Figure out what isn’t working because of the missing updates and go from there.

FWIW, my local dealer says they update every Mach E, every time it’s in for warranty work as an SOP. Especially since most of the stuff that doesn’t work in our cars is fixed with software.

I called Ford to ask why my vehicle is not updating and they said they can see a code TCU DTC U0146 consistently since last summer. The person I was speaking with could not tell what this code is and asked me to call the dealer and ask them.

Has anyone heard of this code?

Lost connection with the gateway module.

FWIW, I was told I have the wrong GWM version and that’s why I don’t get updates.

Still not fixed for me.

Have you guys talked to the OTA team at 833-926-3233?

It might take a couple tries to get someone who knows what they are talking about, but they are able to see if there is an actual problem and can pull someone in who has access to backend stuff on their side if everything looks ok on your end.

I hadn’t gotten any updates since March and they called in someone from backend support, had me reset the configuration from my side and possibly reset something on their side. After a few more days of no updates, I’ve been getting updates like crazy.

They were no help.

Had me reset the car. Tried disconnecting the LVB. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling FordPass, etc.

Ford has to do something very specific on the server end to fix it. Unfortunately it’s above what the dealer and that team can do apparently.
