CarPlay only gives .3 miles warning of exit

So, the CarPlay notification on the screen in front of me,, has changed to only giving me .3 miles notice of a turn. If I am going 65 in the left lane on the highway, that is not enough time. Therefore, I have no confidence in using that option at all and must always look at the center screen for directions. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this an apple problem or ford? I don't understand why this is not speed regulated, so on the highway, I would get a mile notification.

There was another discussion on the Android implementation just yesterday. Same basic complaint. You can use the in-car feedback to get that directly to Ford. It appears to be a decision Ford made. I was watching a video on the next version of CarPlay, and was impressed with the level of integration Apple gives to car companies. That puts the responsibility back on Ford to decide how CarPlay looks in their vehicles.

If I remember correctly, CarPlay gives audio warnings at ten miles, one mile, and closer.

Which CarPlay navigation app? I mostly use Waze, which doesn't show upcoming turns on the speedometer screen thus requires always looking at the main touch screen for info. I notice there are lags in the data due to the cell networks. I think that has been pretty common for years. The Ford navigation has no lag in my experience but I don't use it all the time.

I use both Waze and Apple Maps. but, as you say, only maps shows up on the speedo screen.
I think I will send my complaint through to ford on the in-car feedback, which I have never used. I will also use that to comment on the useless, black car sitting where my speedo should be.

The 6.8.0 update also changed it for the built-in Ford navigation last year. Before, it used to always show you what the next step was on the driver display no matter how far away. Now, the pop-up telling you what's next with the directions appears very late.

I don’t think so. I don’t have the 6.8 (IPC) update, and I only see the turn directions when I’m pretty close (<0.5 miles) from the turn for both CarPlay and the built in nav.

(I do have the centered speedometer when I turn off lane centering, however)

While I agree with your dissatisfaction about the 3/10 notice, it's not considered broken by many folks. It was an intended change.

At some point the 2023s started shipping with the navigation acting as it currently does with the directions popping up on the driver display only as you get close to the next step. But for every Mach-E before this cut-off (not sure when it was in 2023 that the switch happened), the 6.8.0 update changed the behavior.

I just did that it worked. However, for whatever reason, I searched .3, and it didn’t bring up the discussion. Ah, well.
