Can anyone point me to a thread (or an in-depth write-up on a website that I'm missing in my research) that might detail the type of HV Battery in my September 2023 MME GT?
It seems for standard range batteries they got the new LFP Batteries.
So that means, a September 2023 GT still has the "old" NCM Batteries, right?
Both battery types still manufactured by CATL... from what I understand, right?

Anyway. Thanks a lot.

My understanding is that only SR vehicles got the LFP, so would only apply to Select and Premium SR beginning in 2023. None of the extended range vehicles got it (incl Premium, CA Rt 1, and GT) and I don't think they have it in 2024 either.

There is probably an article somewhere, but it's that simple.

LFP doesn’t have enough energy density to do an extended battery in the volume we have. The 2023 Job2 and newer standard range LFP battery is ohysiccally the same size as the extended range NCM. ??

Yeah. The more I read, I do believe you're right... it's that simple. I need to go back to 2020 and 2021 and find articles and videos on the batteries just for reading and education purposes.

Thanks y'all.

And anyone know where our battery's serial number is?
I just wanna look at my numbers and even though I know now what battery my GT has, I'd just like to scope it out.

For what it is worth I have both a 2021 AWD extended range and a 2023 GT. We both charge to 100%. The 2021 and the 2023 have 105,000 miles and 52,000 miles respectively. We have ZERO degradation. As such the whole 80% thing is irrelevant. Navigation takes into account both weather and elevation changes so I watch my miles degreases drastically when driving long distances like Bakersfield to LA but that is fine because in that way I know the accuracy of how many miles I really have. As soon as I pull out of my driveway the navigation drops my mileage by 20-30 miles depending on outside temperatures. I mess around with speeds as well and find out that 75 is the most optimal speed. It is way fun to watch downhill how much you accrue miles because of the increase miles per KWH. DRIVING A MACH e reminds me of driving a stick shift. You can play with KWH based on speed and uphill/downhill.

Did you plug in an OBD2 to confirm no degradation? There is a reading for HVB SOH (state of health) that shows whether there is loss.

No. I just plug it in at home and both cars in temps of 40-80 degrees 275. at 90-115 it is 255-265. As such since I am getting what I got when new I apparently have zero degradation or I would not get this charges. On the road I get the same mileage on 200 mile round trips. I do not need a machine to tell me what my eyes see.

Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) Lithium ion prismatic cell batteries in EX, GT, GTPE are made by LGChem.

https://insideevs.com/news/522286/ford-mache-battery-tray-cells/

NMC cells have a higher energy density than LFP. Stayed tuned as battery technology marches on! LFP is a great technology that produces stable battery cells, but it is about 40% less dense. LFP about 90-120 Wh/kg and NMC 150-220 Wh/kg. LFP is also substantially cheaper. Definitely a benefit for lowering the price of a standard model.

Cool. Just an article/videos I wanna read and watch.
Wow. So a GT or GTPE have the LGChem, nice.
Very neat.

So. Did I miss something?
I thought our batteries were sourced from CATL... But we have LGChem ones from South Korea?

I know there was some dust up over Ford using CATL to source the batteries but I guess I gotta do a but more digging.

Good thread though!
I was up WAY TOO LATE last night consuming ALL or most of the Munro Live Videos on the MME. I definitely needed reminded of their work.
