Hi all,
Just bought a used Cali Rt 1 2023 last week
When I got it home I put it on my home charger, let it charge a bit to recognize the new charge location.
Went to app and tried to set my target charge, location etc..
Hit save and it processed for about 20 seconds and then nothing... wouldn't save anything
Tries it in the car too, same result
When I attempt to try it again, the location and all charge info is gone, tells me I need to charge in order to save a location or target.
So it will charge when plugged but only to 100%
Tried repeating multiple times, same results
Called Fordpass, they said they are "working on the issue"
Anyone else having a similar issue?

I've had my Mach-E for a bit over 3 years. The problem you mention has been present in one for or another since those features appeared. My personal solution is to always change charge settings from the car, almost never from the phone. Eventually the phone catches up, almost never fast enough for impatient people like me.

There are other things you might be running into. Sometimes the location feature doesn't work because GPS has a too-large error circle, for example in a large parking structure, and the car thinks you are somewhere else. In years past, I found that sometimes the best thing to do is to delete all locations and start over.

The good news: The car is great and this kind of crap really isn't a big deal. As in any programmable system, sometimes the user has find a way that works, and then move on.

Paul - this is caused by a recent update (12 volt?). It has only affected some Mach Es. Search the forums here for many posts about it. The one solution that seems to work for most is a complete factory reset. You are correct that Ford is aware of it and says they are working on a fix. My car (affected) hasn't received an update since the update that broke it. I have tried a few other 'fixes' like unplugging negative 12v lead for 10 minutes, etc with no avail. For now, either reset your car or wait for a fix from Ford.

Thanks for the input! Ford did a complete reset to get the previous owner info deleted which was right around the time of the update. I've been able to adjust the times of charging on my Emporia charging station but not the % of charge so it will go to 100 unless I go unplug it in the middle of the night. Very frustrating.

Did you unplug before trying to set the location and levels?

I noted the same thing, but once I had a completed charge in the history, I could use that location.

After an update I had a similar issue. Found a solution on here. Disconnect the 12v battery for a couple of minutes. Reconnect and it should work.
It worked for my 21 premium ext job 2 car.

We have a recall on our 2023. It is recall 24P16. There is also a service bulletin TSB 24-2141. One or both of these may pertain to your issue.

Hi, yes tried it several times after unplugging. Fordpass tech had me reset all kinds of settings in the car all to no avail.

There have been at least three OTAs over the years that have caused this behavior (from what I remember). And in the Lightning as well.

Since you purchased the car used, I'm going to assume you or the dealership did a Sync Master Reset to clear out the previous owner's settings as a starting point.

Delete your home location in Nav and any scheduled charge settings you may have stored for the home location.

Before attempting to charge again, re-save your home location in Nav, then plug the car in and let it charge. You should then be able to pick Home as the charge location and set up a schedule and charge limit.

This will happen again. There are certain OTAs that cause this behavior, and I doubt the programmers are going to spend any cycles trying to fix something that is likely considered a minor inconvenience. They have bigger fish to fry.

Hi Mitch, I came across your post tonight and I’m so thankful I did. I also had the issue of my car not being able to set a target charge after the 12 volt update. I did the factory reset as you suggested and that fixed that issue and I am now able to set a target charge. It also fixed another issue I’ve had since I bought the car back in February where the car would reach the target charge and stay at the target charge but the car would still think it is charging so it would continue running it’s cooling pumps unless I unplugged it.
Thank you so much! ?

For me this problem was out of the box and the way they fixed it was replacing a SOBDMC module. Any way that module can become corrupted/fail from resets, updates or input? Have no idea what Ford is fishing for now but it is not fixing there own mistakes it is more about writing software to mask them, ignoring them or deferring them to a distance quarter that may never happen. We have all learnt how Ford deals with their self created mistakes on this new tech. Expected problems but that is what we got.
