I bought my '23 GTPE in December 2022 (Chicago area) and it's only had PS4 AS tires on it. The Pirellis are in the garage for when I get a second set of rims.

I have 14k on it right now - and they have been great. I can't wait for the extra grip of the Pirellis in the summer though...

Thanks for the writeup. I'm curious to hear how range is affected. Also are you getting any speedometer error? I've been considering the Pirelli Pzero AS Plus Elect, which are available in 235 55 R19, when the time comes.
Now that we are about 3 weeks in, I can answer this.

Speedometer
I tested the speedo several times around town, and twice at highway speed. For the highway, I set the cruise to 75 MPH. I used GPS and both times it registered exactly 75 MPH. I did this on road trips, and watched it for at least a few minutes to make sure. So, in my case the speedo is dead-on with this model tire

Range
Disclaimer - this is not an easy question for anyone to answer, including me. If you read posts on this forum where people claim some massive change, and they post no details then I'd be very suspect of their info. There are too many variables, terrain, outside temperature, route, tire pressure, road type / condition, etc. Nobody can truly answer this question unless they make the same route on the same day at the same speeds with both sets of tires. And, even then there are margins of error and results should probably not be depended upon but just used as a general round-about approximation.

That said, in my Premium RWD ER, on a recent road trip with the new tires -- it was a straight shot on a relatively flat interstate route for about 1 1/2 hours. Traffic was light to non-existent and I was able to set-it-and-forget-it the cruise to exact 75 MPH the entire way. Temperature was about 45 - 55 degrees F. Under these conditions, the vehicle trip recorded 2.4 miles / KWh efficiency.

That might not help you at all, because I have nothing to compare it to. But at the least I think it shows at least a normal efficiency value. In other words, it doesn't appear that range is going to be halved or anything ridiculous like that. Physics dictates the range WILL reduce, but I can't say with any degree of certainty what it will be. Maybe we can ask Jason Fenske and he can do the maths and tell us!

Anyone reading this looking for advice --

If you are a "hypermiler" type looking for THE MOST range in your EV, you should stick with OEM tires / sizes as that is likely to be your best best.

If you find yourself in the position of longing for a little more confidence in your driving, and better wet-weather traction, then I highly recommend the PS A/S, and I highly recommend tires that are bigger width than stock.

I should mention noise -- these are not EV specific tires and we went eyes-wide-open knowing there will be more noise. I can say we are pleasantly surprised. There is noticeably more noise at highway speeds (65 MPH + ), particularly on imperfect roads. For me personally, it's only barely more noticeable and it might only be I noticed it specifically because I was looking for it. Anecdote-time, on that same 75 MPH cruise trip above, we were going through a stretch of "textured" highway pavement, and a Tesla Model 3 drove by in the fast lane to our left. I could hear THEIR tire noise significantly more than I could hear MY tire noise. I have no clue what tires they had on their car, but just wanted to share that at the very least, these PS4's are at least not terrible.

Just bought a set for my '23 GTP as it came with snow tires on it.

Today we just put 245/50/19 Pilot Sport 4 A/S on our '21 Premium RWD.

This car originally comes with 225/55/19's and we just were not satisfied with the "stickiness" or rather lack thereof, particularly in wet conditions. It just was not enough rubber contacting the pavement to inspire any confidence. In fact, with the original 225's I could routinely squeal the tires on dry pavement off the line.

Fortuitously today it was raining so we got a chance to immediately feel the new set out in inclement weather, and I can say that both my wife and I noticed a night/day difference already. I actually had a tough time to get the tires to break traction (within safe limits of course, I could have definitely broken traction but didn't want that to end in the car kissing a guardrail).

Time will tell, but this is clearly the upgrade the car should have had from the factory. A couple pics below with the new shoes on. Excuse the extreme dirtiness, like I said it's been raining :)

Did you notice much change in range when you went with the wider tire?

I just bought the Michelin PS A/S 4 after a lot of shopping. The Continental ExtremeContact DWS06+ were my first choice, but they weren't available from where I am. Both tires should be equivalent, from what I read. They are getting installed tomorrow.

My GTPE 20" Pzero OEM tires lasted about 12,500 km ( about 8000 miles ). They had some more life left in them, but not that much. I am at 5/32" thread depth (new ones are at 10/32"). I am assuming I need to replace them at around 3/32".

I live in Quebec, Canada. Winter tires are mandatory which sort of force a rotation of tires every ~8000 miles :)

A lump developed on the sidewall of two tires. Might be due to a solid pot hole on the road I got into lately.

I was in the market for Michelin PS 4S sport summer tires to get the same driving dynamics as the Pzero, but our GTPE is our daily driver and we favor it to our other car whenever we can.

Even if the 4S are better than the Pzero, 2000 CAD$ worth of tires every 2 years isn't a good use or rubber nor money :).

So, a performance 4 season tire seems like the next best idea. I settled for the Michelin PS A/S 4. They get installed OEM on some Corvette (Although I suspect they are "adapted")

I sort of know my Kwh/100km consumption on some paths, so if we get +20ÂşC days for the next month, I should be able to derive a consumption penalty for non-OEM tires.

That said, the super sticky Pzero 245/45R20 aren't that efficient, I am pretty sure :)

Are you running lower pressure with the wider tire? If so, how is the ride compared to stock?

No, definitely not a lower pressure. I hate running tires with lower pressure as it causes too much "Jello" effect. I'm running them 40 - 42 psi. Let the haters hate. Run your tires how you like 'em.

The ride is maybe slightly better on really rough roads. By rough here, I mean deteriorating roads - e.g., surface defects, expansion joint issues. I don't mean "potholes". Potholes feel the same.

You made the right choice. I installed the Continental DWS previously and took about a 15% range hit. I now run the Michelin Pilot A/S and the range is the same as the Hankook ION's that I used before. Just drove from Augusta to Charlotte and back and got 2.7 mi/kw at 75 mph in 90 degree weather

If you notice a trend, “quieter and smoother” is the same thing every person says when they get new tires and compare them to their old worn out tires.

In January I got a 2023 GTPE loaner with 300 miles on it.

I immediately noticed the tires were “quieter and smoother” than my 2021 tires. Car even felt like it rode better.

They’re the identical tires. Mine were just worn out.

That make sense. I guest we just don't want to see the reverse trend: Newer tire being noisier :). It happened to me in the pass on my Chevy Volt (first 90km full electric). I was _pissed_ :).

225/55 or 245/50? Just curious as I am contemplating whether I want to size up.

I stayed with the 225 and traction and handling is much improved. The DWS i went with 245’s so I am sure that also contributed to range loss

Thanks. I am going to be looking for all season replacements for the Conti Premium Contact 6 summer tires on mine soon enough. I was considering the Pirelli PZero AS Elect but I might circle back on the PS4s. I'd initially thought they might kill my range but sounds like that's minimal - I'm also not out here trying to run out every single mile from my car.

When I changed them out from the Hankook Ions I was commuting 100 miles everyday and saw virtually no difference in battery consumption
