Just wondering if this is at all normal. My car is behind on updates, but I recently got the Charge Assist app in the car. I plugged into a Tesla Supercharger for the first time this morning, and the car kept saying "waiting to charge". I didn't take a picture of the screen, but I really thought it would start charging. After 5 minutes or so, I started the charge with the Tesla App and it worked.
On the way home, at the same charger, I waited a few minutes, and the car didn't seem to start charging. After a while it said that charging was interrupted, I don't know if that's because it got tired of waiting for someone to start the charge (with the Tesla app?), or if it actually started charging and somehow I stopped it or interrupted it. Because I started messing with the Charge Assist App.
Anyway, I disconnected the cable, and reconnected it. This time, I went into Charge Assist, found the Supercharger Location, found the charger number, which was greyed out, but I pressed the button to activate it anyways. Now up comes a screen that says that if I was enrolled in Blue Oval, I could start the charge from this in-car Charge Assist App. The screen has a QR code. I scan the QR code, and check FordPass, and I am indeed enrolled in Blue Oval, and (now that I'm home) I've confirmed that there's a valid credit card in my Ford Wallet. So, Charge Assist is telling me that it could help me, if I was in Blue Oval. But I am in Blue Oval.
So, anyway, not wanting my passengers to start getting worried, I start the charge with the Tesla App again on my phone.
I *really* want to be able to start charging the car with the Charge Assist app in the car, and also with plug-n-charge. For some reason, I loathe not being able to charge my car without my phone. I have a FLO RFID card, and a few chargers have credit card readers, so I'm not completely dead-in-the-water without a phone, but I'd really like the Blue Oval in-network and Superchargers to be able to charge without using my phone.
I can understand that Plug-n-charge won't work until my car decides to acquire the appropriate Supercharger OTA update. But, shouldn't Charge Assist work?
Could my whole Blue Oval thing be mucked up? Or is this more likely to be a supercharger-only problem, or transient problem? I could try Blue Oval/ Charge Assist at a nearby in-network L2, I guess, see if I get a nice QR code invitation to enroll again like I did at the Supercharger. I have used Blue Oval/FordWallet before successfully, but it was back in February.
Any thoughts? Is this something others have experienced?
