My partner took the Mustang in for the HVBJB recall work. A few hours later they tell her it's done... Huh?

We've put off having the recall work done for several reasons I'm not going into right now.

My partner dropped off at 11:00 AM today. It's 2:15 PM and they just called her to tell her it's done.
That seems unbelievably fast.
The Ford website still indicates the recall is incomplete.

This is why I have severe trust issues with dealerships.

I've read here somewhere that it takes eight hours. So that doesn't sound right.

Ford allocates 6 hours of labor for the replacement of the part and programming. Less than 3 hours is suspect. Did they just apply the software patches? I would call them on this. ??

Yep.

This is exactly one of the reasons I didn't want to bother with doing the recall.

Service rep is explaining to me that the update will fix the transmission shifting behavior.

Yeah, this is just great.

LOL and the transmission doesn’t shift or have anything to do with the HVBJB. WTH? ?‍♂?

What I don't get is how there is any room for confusion on the dealer side.

If it's like any other recall or TSB, there will be instructions for what exactly needs to occur. Did the service advisor or technician just shrug and decide they weren't going to do it, or what?

Sometimes dealer service departments boggle my mind. They did a software update (that I already had) to my car for the front camera cutting out when the TSB clearly says to reposition or replace the cables. ?‍♂?

This dealer is decidedly anti-EV. I think they were part of the group that threatened Ford with a lawsuit for trying to require dealers to know something about the EVs they were going to be expected to service. The problem is that they're the only Ford dealer within 50 miles and the next closest dealer is also anti-EV. The nearest EV-friendly dealer is more than an hour away.

So my partner thought she would try this dealer because it's only 15 minutes away.

They apparently did some kind of module update with FDRS (I don't have a license so I can't verify they did anything meaningful). They reset the trip computers, so now I have to rebuild the lifetime efficiency tracking.

We got what I expected.

The transmission didn't shift any differently on the drive home. The service rep was very clear that I should expect, according to something they were reading on the screen, a harder shift behavior as the vehicle re-learns my driving behavior. Did they try to update my Mach-E as if it were an ICE? I don't know...

?‍♀?‍♂?‍♀?‍♂?‍♀?‍♂

What do you mean shift differently?

That's 2.5 hours with good traffic. So that's an entire day's worth of driving for both of us just to drop off and pick up the vehicle.

I had an okay purchase experience with Camelback for the Lightning, but don't know anything about their service department.

At this point, I'm willing to wait for the thing to fail, but... /shrug

Nothing. I'm making fun of the service rep who was clearly reading something from a different vehicle's service bulletin when they made sure I understood that the car "will shift differently when you drive home."

They must have been reading from an ICE vehicle's service bulletin rather than from the Mustang Mach-E's service bulletin.

Did you get an email or phone call from someone at Ford? For my HVBJB I did....but it might have been a follow up due to the fact it was towed because it bricked before the parts came in for the recall. If you didn't get a call, look around this forum, their is a Ford Dealership Liaison Dept that will communicate with the dealership for you. I ended up having the entire HV battery replaced and the dealer couldn't point on my paperwork/receipt where it stated the battery was actually replaced. Also the mileage on the paperwork was incorrect. Took about a week of back and forth with me, the liaison, and the service dept to finally get some paperwork showing correct mileage and that the battery was fully replaced with a new one.

I got an email, a letter, and a call from Ford.

There's no way they replaced the HVBJB in the time they had the vehicle. At the dealership when I picked up the vehicle, they claimed it didn't need to be replaced. I don't have the patience to deal with this dealership (or most dealerships, to be honest).
