I have noticed zero difference between the three modes as to acceleration, braking, handling, or any other aspect of driving. I use 1PD.

The only differences I’ve noticed are you get the silly little brake coach in Engage mode only for some reason, and Unbridled has that awful burnt orange color scheme.

I’ve heard a lot of people talking about differences in “throttle mapping” etc. Ok. Look, all I can say is I cannot discern one single difference, and I’ve never seen any actual proof that such a difference exists.

If anyone has such proof - and I don’t count Ford marketing crap - I’d be curious to see it.

The mapping is absolutely different between the drive modes.

It's not about how much power is available in total though. If you put your foot down in either of the modes, you're getting all of the power available.

But if you only apply, say, 10% of the throttle (based on the position of the pedal), you're getting more power in unbridle for that 10% than the other drive modes. It's just a faster response.

Think of it like adding one of those "pedal commander" things to the pedal. It basically just remaps the power applied vs throttle position. I almost bought one for my 4Runner a few years ago until I realized what it actually did.

So you’re saying in unbridle when you’re like doing 65 and you let off the pedal it comes to a stop quicker? Cause I’ve noticed sometimes whenever I’m coming to the same intersection sometimes and I’m going maybe 66 instead of 65. It wants to roll more in the engaged mode!
Yes. Unbridle has more aggressive braking and slows down faster when using one-pedal.

Newbie 2024 MME Premium owner. I am mostly using Engaged. Tried Unbridled for a bit today. Real world what are most of you using? Does Propulsion Sound do much of anything? I am not sure I hear anything significant inside or outside.
I turn off the sound but if I have someone that’s never been in I’ll turn it on. I like engaged over all. Best of both worlds I guess. Unbridled is good for merging on the freeway ?.

1PD Unbridled all the time.

I like the throttle mapping- other modes make me feel like I'm towing a boat with the amount of pedal you have to put in. Steering is a bit twitchy but all together UNbridled is better than Engaged or Whisper.

Propulsion sound = never on

I use Whisper for the smooth ride. I also use the L button for breaking.

Whisper mode with kids for the smoother acceleration. Long term driving makes my foot tired so I switch to engage.

Unbridled for passing. Jerks too much for passengers.

Engaged for long term driving and most daily drivers.

I think he is being misunderstood. My guess is he is saying regen when you let off. Not brake pedal vs 1P braking.

I’m an unbridle guy for a different reason. I can make the car go fast in any mode by simply pressing the pedal a little harder or softer. I like the more aggressive braking of unbridle. Apparently I’m a late braker. Anything other than unbridle and my car wants to roll right through stop signs. In unbridle, the OPD braking is just right without me having to consciously tell myself to lift my foot early.
This is exactly why I use unbridled mode. It allows you to brake a little harder and avoid using the brake pedal. As others have stated - it is personal preference based on driving style/habits.

Guess I'm the odd one who uses Whisper. Mach-E is my first BEV, but I've driven 3 PHEVs before, and a hybrid before the PHEVs. I like the slow roll when I take my foot off the pedal that my PHEV and hybrid gave me. The strong breaking that Engage and Unbridled give mean I end up taking my foot off the accelerator to coast but then have to use it again because it stops quicker than I'm used to.
I turned off the noise because I thought it was silly, and I usually drive with music or podcasts so I don't need the distraction.

The extra regen takes a little bit of finesse, but it becomes second nature after a few days.

A LEAF was my first EV, and I ended up liking B or Eco (since it didn’t have 1P), I was already pretty comfortable with 1P driving when I came to MME.

It's all personal preference.

I do Unbridle + 2PD almost exclusively.

If I'm in a long stretch of stop-and-go, I sometimes switch to Engage to make the adaptive cruise / bluecruise braking a bit less aggressive.
