I’ve been seriously considering adding a Lightning before EOY, and been lurking that forum a lot more recently for vibes.

Think it’s a good truck that will meet my needs.. But, not feeling so loyal to brand tonight.
Try lightningownersdotcom as well. A slightly different perspective. Your thoughts are understandable if all this is actually true and not simply a shortened sentence done for brevity.

Ford published in emails and their literature than 2021s were included in the Blue Cruise updates which were to come "soon". What more do I need. That set my expectations and I renewed my existing Blue Cruise software for 3 years. That seems like a binding contract to me.
Oh I would be pissed, too. I'm just pointing out that Ford couldn't give a damn about any uproar or owner frustration because I don't think they have a reason to. How significant is the revenue loss from MY 21? Apparently not enough (if they really abandoned you). Do they feel they have a legal obligation? Apparently not.

There are a lot of more significant issues that end users had to deal with, and yet Ford still has customers....

That conception is coming from the support page linked in the OP of this thread. Specifically, it is coming from these two lines in the support page:

"Vehicles eligible to receive BlueCruise 1.3:
  • Mustang Mach-E® model years 2022–2023"
You can argue that the conception is wrong, and you can explain why you believe that to be true. But where it's coming from? That is clear.
Perhaps I should refer you back to my first post on this thread where my 2021 and countless others have brand new IPMA software available containing files with 2025 part numbers in it?

Could that link referenced in the OP be in reference to the CURRENT roll out of 1.3 and not the permanent plan? It's no secret 2021s are not getting the BC 1.3 update right now. Do we really need Ford to tell us that? I thought that was the point of the "thoughtful back end process" thread.

I guess you can never have enough threads on the same beat up subject, though.

So 2021 can now update to bc1.3 with FDRS? Do you have to change some settings to get it to work? Has anyone posted instructions with pictures of the correct screens to change the settings?

Instead of “cars & coffee” meetups we may need to band together with local/regional “FDRS & coffee (and beer) meetups instead of waiting on Ford.

If Ford simply had a clear communication strategy (and executed it), this entire thread would never have happened.
Maybe a customer support and success strategy, too? Relate

I have a 2021 Job 2 and updates stopped in June at version 6.14. I paid for 3 years of BC and awaited the updates that would fix some of the early issues with 1.0. I had the car in for recall service in early August and was told all updates were applied. I share the frustration- if @Ford Motor Company would state unequivocally there is a roadmap and timing to turning on OTAs and getting BC 1.3 to us it would go a long way. As it stands I can only used BC when not in much traffic and usually I’m still doing steering adjustments.

From what I understand, this Christmas could be your 1 year anniversary running Bluecruise 1.3, if you had access to the appropriate OBD adapter last Christmas.

But never too late. :)

Of course 90% aren't going to subscribe anyways, which drips with irony.

I have access to fdrs but I think it is more than just doing the updates. I think you have to adjust some of the settings within the updates.

It’s not that technical

The website this post is referring to is talking about ‘Software update IPMA-24.204.8.27 starting in summer 2024’.

BC 1.3 can go to 21’s and the update not be that version number.
As I said, there’s a lot more than “it’s technical”/“it’s easy”. Have you ever tried to teach an old person how to set the time on their VCR? (Very old joke.)

So you’re saying that the OTA for MY21s that would provide BlueCruisr 1.3 may be named something other than IPMA-24.204.8.27? Well, we had PowerUp 7.0.X, then PowerUp 10.0.X, then IPMA-XX.XXX.X.XX so I guess they could come up with yet something else?

I believe the software has to be made available for your specific VIN. If PowerUp 7.X/PowerUp 10.X/IPMA-X/whatever crazy name Ford chooses this week, isn’t available for your VIN, all the FDRSing in the world won’t get BlueCruise 1.X | X >=3 on your car.

Having done it myself. I am confident that anyone who has the capability of owning the car and operating it could also follow the help and guidance of nice members like rugedraw and have their 1.3.

I do think people love to say something is too hard, too complicated, too whatever as an excuse and actually just sell themselves short.

Majority of old people could also program a VCR…look at them and their new fangled iPhones and driving EVs now…..they just didn’t want to program it.

But people disappoint me every day with their stupidity, so maybe I am overly optimistic.

I was the manager that the engineers would roll their eyes over whenever I walked in the test lab. They knew that my mere presence would “jinx” their “perfect” hardware. And this would be before I sat down at the controls and tried to do something that “made sense”. I was great at rapidly identifying previously unknown failure modes ?
