Unsure if there is a thread out there in regards to improvements that current/future Mach-E owners would like to see for future Mach-E model years (specifically for the 2nd generation, anticipated in 2027).
It seems that Ford also checks out forums as a place for feedback on improvements they make on each Mach-E iteration, so this is the place for that discussion.
As we all know by now, the 2025 MY will bring improvements such as heat pump, ventilated seats, sport appearance package, BlueCruise 1.5, etc.
I myself am waiting to get a Mach-E Rally in the future.

Improvements/additions/wishlist I'd like to see on future Mach-E's are listed below (definitely would like to see these improvements by the 2nd generation on a Rally trim):
  1. Adjustable suspension for dirt or track use.
  2. Allow front & rear torque distribution adjustments.
  3. Heads up display or HUD.
  4. Heated steering wheel.
  5. Improved efficiency and range (maybe solid state batteries by 2027?).
  6. Improved motors (no overheating on demanding rides and more power).
  7. 800V or higher vehicle architecture.
  8. J3400/NACS plug (thought this would've made it by MY 2025).
  9. Improved BlueCruise and software (this was a given).
BONUS wish list (for Rally trim, since this is how I would spec my Mach-E):
  1. Unique colors/liveries for Rally trim (I like the racing stripes).
  2. Unique interior (such as sporty steering wheel, sporty seats, etc).
  3. Addition of a track mode & improved rally mode.
  4. Simulation shift mode and legacy Ford performance vehicle sounds to make driving more engaging for us enthusiasts?
I know this is a large ask as a consumer, but I'd like to see the Mach-E Rally be competitive to the Ioniq 5 N (or TRX, if there ends up being a performance version of it), as these vehicles provide the EV/car enthusiast the best of all worlds.
As a side note, some of these improvements could also be made on other trim levels, as I know others would like to see improvements as well on the Mach-E overall.
I maybe missing some other improvements we all would like to see, but hopefully this thread will make the already great Mach-E even better with each passing year.
What would improvements would y'all like to see on future Mach-E's?
Make #3 a flip-down heads-up display! As in, make the gauge cluster screen something that folds down so that it completely disappears from sight if I want it to. I don’t need to see the speed I’m traveling at twice when I have it appearing right on the road in front of me. Plus the drivers display in our cars is very minimal anyway, would fit perfectly into a hud without much change needed. Oh, and make it a manual fold. Reduces parts and chance something might break when needed the most. Of course when conditions make huds hard to read (never had that problem), I can always flip up the driver screen when needed. Would make for a really clean look without forcing me to glance sideways like a certain competitor does.

for the most part I think you covered a lot.

AC outlet anyone??? At least one?

prolly way out there, but V2L-V2H would be sweet! Ioniqs seem to have it, why not we?

and now that the 2025 model has been released…

GIMME MY FRUNK BAAAAAAACK!!! The combining cubic space offered by the frunk in the previous model was one of the things that really drew me to this car. Even though the hatch was smaller than my last ice vehicle, the frunk more than made up for it.

And while we’re at it, a powered frunk, or at least a one touch external button based on fob-PAAK proximity would be nice, as opposed to double-yanking the footwell lever or punching in the whole door code.

Nice to have: Raptor-Amber DRLs would look amazing on the GT, not to mention would kinda help set it apart more now that the 2025 premiums have essentially adopted the whole GT exterior via a sport appearance package.

Minor nitpicks include:

regarding dat frunk… please figure out the temperature issues if you haven’t already. Someone would have to test the 2025 models to see if the issues with the frunk getting hot with ac on has been resolved. As far as I know, most other vehicles don’t seem to have this issue, at least not to the extent our cars have.

Remote start fails or stops when frunk opened. Please, it’s an EV, not an ICE.

Remote start limitations. Please, it’s an EV, not an ICE! A simple ā€œyour started this car twice already but didn’t drive it, are you sure you want to start againā€ with a press and hold-swipe up left or some other obnoxious gesture in the app would do, as opposed to not letting me warm up the car at all because my doctors appointment was canceled yesterday and I got to go to work today. Or at least raise it to 5 attempts before requiring me to drive it again.

All those double honks and loudly obnoxious, annoying ā€œchimesā€. PLEASE, it’s an EV, and these loud, long and repetitive, bassy notes ain’t chimes! (Thank God for forscan, but for goodness-sake!) Door shut without key while car is on, HONK HONK! While buckling seatbelts just after turning car on, BudABOOP to the power of 7. Please, STOP!

camp night mode (this cars a really nice place to be in honestly, would be even better if I don’t have to bring two towels with me to cover the screens, which turn up brighter when I turn off my headlights.

minor, but sometimes the slightly forward hood line jutting past the headlights fender portions just slightly bugs me - especially considering how clean and fit-perfect every other part of this car is.

Better tailgate and frunk light placement, with manual on-off and auto toggle. One of my biggest nitpicks whenever loading my car.

and just in case, please don’t downsize this car! the dimensions a perfect, one of the most cavernous vehicles I’ve ever been in for it’s size. Nothing from even Lincoln comes close in terms of legroom and general comfort, excluding uber lux features like massage and all…

Edit: completely forgot to add, better access to critical bits like jump points, tow hooks, clearly marked safe points for jack lifts, and an easy manual way to get in and out of the car should the electronics fail, common things that heaven forbid I would never need during my ownership of this otherwise excellent car!

There are some things that I consider design flaws that I would like to see addressed.

1. There should be an easy way to gain entry to the vehicle in the situation where the Aux battery is dead or very low on charge. Door handles and a key hidden in the fob would work - My plug-in Prius had that and it worked very well.

2. The Aux battery should be more easily accessible and should not need a six hour process to reset the BMS. The car's software should be able to handle a battery change.

3. Need to add the ability to tow from the rear. There is now way a car should be designed where a tow from the rear can do thousands of dollars worth of damage.

4. I think that HUD would make a good option for Ford to offer. My wife has this on here Escape and she loves it for when she is using NAV. I don't think it needs to be standard though.

I'd pay money to not sound like a fork lift when I'm backing up.
Whatcha want brotha, jetsons?

cars gotta make some noise when you can’t see them and they can’t hear you.

You wanna know what sounds like a forklift backing up? Hear an Ioniq, or even a Tuscan. Those things, are LOUD at night.

please don’t take this the wrong way, text can be hard to convey the lighthearted friendly tone of my comment.

The backup sound is then only thing I prefer in the Tesla. I'd also pay for the stormtrooper march.

Agree, especially with the HUD. I’ve enjoyed two cars with this feature. As more and more data are being offered to drivers, there is increased value to giving us the option of putting it in front of us.

I still haven't figured out how to just open the vent to get exterior air. Hints please.
Great question. Ever since vehicles became equipped with 'auto' climate, the climate systems in cars can't be overridden easily. I absolutely hate it. I sometimes like to drive with cool air flowing through. Auto climate systems want to warm or cool to the set temperature. An 'off' setting does not allow manual control. At least I've not figured that out.

I'm not totally opposed to a HUD, as long as I have the option to disable it. I find HUDs to be terribly distracting.

Test drove a CX-50 with HUD before buying my MME and I couldn't stand it. It immediately drew my eye in and I had a difficult time focusing on the road.

An off switch for the turns part of predictive speed control, it just doesn’t work well in Pennsylvania!

My list of things in order of importance:

Software Changes (Bring to all vehicles ASAP)
  1. Ability to have Lane Centering turned on Without Cruise Control. (like Hyundai/Kia)
  2. Apple Maps and Google Maps on IOS supporting the full feature set of Android Auto Google Maps (Particularly Charger Preconditioning)
  3. Software Preconditioning Button
  4. Support for Apple Shortcuts (see Tesla's Implementation)

Hardware Changes: (Not coming to my Vehicle but I think doing these things are needed to keep Mach-E Competitive)
  1. Native NACS
  2. 800V+ Architecture for 350KW+ Charging
  3. Ability to charge/jump the 12V from the charge port (in case the 12V dies)
  4. Powered Frunk Open/Close (without making the frunk smaller)
  5. Mega Powered Frunk (without making the frunk smaller, Grill goes up like the lightning for lower load floor)
  6. Physical Button in the driver's seat to Open the Trunk (Replacing the Max Defrost Button, its always on the screen)
  7. Hitting the park button brings up the 360 view and the cameras no matter the speed
  8. Ventilated Front Seats (MY2025 Added)
  9. Apple/Google Wallet Car Key Support (for more reliable keys as it uses the underlying OS instead of the app to do the key + apple watch support, easier to share keys etc)
  10. USB-C only
  11. Magsafe (QI2 compatible) Wireless Phone Charger
  12. Move the Dial to a stalk, move the wireless charger where the dial is, remove the "Bridge across from the center console to the dash to make room for purses or bags in the front seat between passengers. (Stalk moved in MY2025)
  13. V2X built in (See Lightning, but also see kia ev6, Lucid Air, CyberTruck)
  14. Bring back the auto-parking and Kick sensor from the launch models
  15. Option to close/cover/opaque glass roof (see Ioniq 5 or Rivian R1S)

Here's my list. I have listed both hardware and software changes compared to the 2025 Mach E.

Hardware changes:
• Much better thermal management and new motors allowing for much better sustained performance, no more jail bars, as well as faster 0-60 and quarter mile times.
• 48V battery
• 800v architecture on NACS, allowing for much better charging rate
• Denser, smaller batteries that can reduce weight as well as increase range.
• A heat pump that DOES NOT eat up frunk space (Look at Model Y)
• More powerful processor to run infotainment
• Rear Heated seats
• An option for an electrochroamatic glass roof
• Better materials in the car
• Newer suspension geometry that is adjustable or air suspension

Software Changes:
• More modern looking software, sync 4a still looks outdated and not as information rich either.
• Pet mode
• Real-time driving system instead of pre-mapped (Take a book from Tesla FSD)
• Better customization of drive mode (Change individual elements like regen, steering weight, throttle response, suspension feel etc.)
• Sentry cameras (Like tesla)
• More control of car from the phone app
Make better use of cameras. I want to see it all. All the time not just when backing up or when I inch forward out of my driveway

- Have the magma-ride suspension as a Premium option
Would that "magma-ride" unit also provide the rear seat heat everyone wants and maybe also replace the heat pump, giving the frunk space back????
Happy Halloween everybody!

Totally agree with many of these & especially in terms of what is now available in many Korean & Chinese EVs, ie:

Hardware:
• 800v DC charging, surely? Well overdue & presently not competitive;
• 48 battery, get rid of the old ICE 12v battery & add something far more appropriate & reliable;
• Upgraded CPU, this still has not been updated & is very tired;
• Ventilated seats all models, front & rear, or at least an upgrade option;
* Climate controls for rear passengers;

Software:
• Pet mode & Sentry mode, for sure.

Also to @Thunderanger
Best we can do is set heat to off, temp at minimum, and push a/c button off. Use manual fan to control airflow. I don't believe there is anything you can do about the a/c compressor kicking in to eliminate the possibility of fogging under certain temperature/humidity conditions--that's a reasonable safety thing. Hopefully it wouldn't happen as long as recirc isn't selected.

The other thing that is a must in my next EV is 50 amp vehicle to load capability, so I can run my house in case of a power outage. It should not be necessary for me to pay nearly as much as the price of the car for a set of home batteries that only have half the car's kWH capacity.
Yes! This! I would gladly fork over a few grand for a bi-directional EVSE and the necessary mains cutoff equipment if my car would only support it. ??
