In addition to CarPlay the thing that put me off was no Supercruise on any of the Blazer trims currently in production. It’s supposed to be on the SS but that is now pushed out to 26.
The SS is 2026 now?!?

That’s verging on Tesla rollout timeline.

Might as well just kill the SS and reserve it for a mid model refresh at this point or kill altogether and replace it with the “corvette SUV” that should be around 2026 anyways.

I feel bad for the people who put deposits down on an SS a few years ago with nothing to show for it.

The SS could have been a winner if it was released back when our GTs still had a power limit.

But if they release the SS now and it’s slower than the GT plus you have to hit all those buttons to go into WOW mode to get full power…… oof.

That is what I read yesterday. Not sure why the holdup.

It’s supposed to be 560ish HP 670 for torque. Just says under 4 sec 0-60. It is also heavier than a GT at 5100-5700 lbs.

Most of you know my feelings on the Blazer. It has to have a removable top or… Well, you know. ??

Supercruise is actually available on the 2025 RS trim. You can already find them on dealer lots.

I was on the Chevy web site using Configuration tool and it’s not an option that you can select. They only show adaptive cruise control which isn’t the same thing. I may be wrong.

It's available to configure on 2025 models.

Oh well... if it's "lockable".. unlike the rest of the car, I totally get it...
If you needed to store a laptop relatively securely in the car, I'd choose a frunk over the trunk 100% of the time. Try smashing your way into the frunk, compared to the glass of the trunk or the passenger doors (Teslas have been hit by this particularly hard).

Next time, have some imagination and think a little bit before laughing at someone's needs and preferences.

I stumbled across an offer on the GM site in Canada offering $100 Amazon gift card to test drive a Blazer, Equinox, or Silverado EV. How could I say no? So I went to the dealership yesterday and drove a Blazer LS.

Admittedly I was a bit pressed for time when I went in, so didn't deep dive on much, but overall I was impressed. So here are a few quick impressions vs. the Mach-E, which I drove to the dealership and parked beside a Lyriq (which I also drove).

Ride:
I think this is where the Blazer really shines. I'll preface this by saying we were on almost perfect tarmac behind the dealership and then the highway, but it rode very well. Not sure if the suspension changes with drive modes (I was in "Sport") but I don't think so. Power on the highway was all you need, but I didn't hoon around with it.
I have had a look but no need for a drive yet. I do not need to be on the bleeding edge again this one was special.

All about the Go and no care about the show except it rusting out. Bells and whistles are ok but this is my first with Bluetooth and powered windows. I know for sure there will be some "hooning" going on during my test drive. ;) Have not even checked the specs; about the same pull on the two of them? It is the 50 to 90 mph that is nice on the mach.

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

No frunk = deal-killer
You're certainly not alone in that, but it still makes me tilt my head a little.

I believe that I've used the front trunk in my car maybe three times in a year, and if you gave me the choice, I might prefer to have a shorter, smaller Mach-E and forget the front trunk.

Something that I miss was how open the front of my Bolt EV was, and I had an inverter set up ready to go if I ever needed to pull power from the Bolt in a power outage.

I still have the inverter setup but I wouldn't be looking forward to prising off covers or drilling holes to be able to use the inverter on the Mach-E.

I like the Blazer and Equinox, and Chevy is doing a good job with them.

Something that surprised me, looking at both of them, is how close to fulfilling the exact same role. There is significant overlap in the customer base and pricing.

And...there's this odd subjective impression that the Equinox is better put together than the Blazer.

I wish they would reconsider their anti-Apple stance and allow CarPlay, because it would flatten the otherwise steep learning curve if nothing else.

Yah, used mine just last night to keep groceries cold while at my son's game. Store my folding chairs there during the summer and charging stuff and reusable bags there all year. I personally think it would suck having to allocate space in the back for those things. Unless the rear cargo on another vehicle is much bigger than the MME.

man, if that's your deal breaker on an ev suv, i feel sorry for you...lol
Model Y has a frunk and the Rivian R2 is likely to as well. And then there is always another Mach. Not sure what there is to feel sorry about.
