I would bet that even though the EV team was not initially helpful they had a hand in this. The covering the rental car is something that they do. Likely they called the dealer and straightened it out

I called them when my car had its HVBJB failure and the service department asked me why I got Ford cooperate involved. I told them so it got fixed and so my rental got covered.

My first week's rental was at a random Hertz and a non-Ford vehicle, then the dealer told me that Ford would not cover the cost of a rental if the rental car was not a Ford and so I switched to a Ford. Not sure this is true, but this is what the dealer told me. I'll have to fight with Ford separately for that 1 week of rental to be covered.

Follow up with the EV team folks they likely will cover it. In my case they gave me a case number and a dedicated customer service representative

They send me a reloadable visa card in the amount of my rental

I am a very glad they are covering the repairs as they should.

Cheers

Folks, the service mgr came back today and was able to reconcile the dilemma. He said Ford will cover the full repair and the rental and that Ford would fix the parts site so this doesn't happen again..... Oh well, it has to happen to someone initially I guess. FYI, the cost of the Motor is about $3,400, $2,000 for labor, and about $75 in bolts and $300 in shop supplies.... About $6k including tax.

Thank you all for your help and support.

I will note "Almost Solved" in the title and post here is there are any interesting surprises or developments.
Did they tell you which warranty this is covered under?

I think it is true. Several on here have reported the requirement to rent a Ford in order to get reimbursed.

I'm happy to hear that your problem is being resolved. I've only had my Mach-e for several months. Your story had me concerned. I'm loving my car so far & don't want that to change.

As far as the rental is concerned, if they are complaining about you not driving a Ford, why didn't THEY supply the car? I'd be looking for a new dealer.

Well to be fair, the car has to be past 3 years old and 36k for this kinda confusion to be possible.
it's an "or" not an "and" so actually quite a few people are past the mileage OR the 3 year (i.e. all of FE + 2021 models, and then of course higher mileage subsequent years)

Technically it’s neither/nor because it’s covered for 8 years or 100,000 miles.

But yes, I should have said “or.”

Extended warranty would have cost under $3000
Well thank goodness he didn't make a mistake like that.

He would have been $3,000 in the hole.

Now he can place the $3,000 in the Stock Market (or other high risk investment) and pay for future repairs using that money.

FYI, going on odds of using the extended warranty and saving money, the extended warranty may possibly be your highest risk/lowest return investment that one can make.
