And this is true the extended warranty does not cover items that are already covered by the factory warranty. But as an end consumer this would force the issue especially if the warranty you buy is the ford one.

There is some truth to what you are saying. However, I am not tricked I understand the factory warranty comes first. I am indeed double covering things and that was actually my point if he had the warranty let Ford factory warranty fight it out with Ford warranty folks not my problem. Also, I do either 125k or 150k miles and 10 years I am betting that the warranty will pay for $3000 in repairs you are betting it won't. I respect your position, but cars do actually have problems

It's hard to convince me because I have bought these on my last 4 fords and been the winner each time. Plus, here in MN you can cancel any time and get a refund based on the percentage of years left vs original term. IE I buy a $3000 10 year warranty and keep for 5 years and get a 50% refund even if the warrant has paid out repairs and regardless of the amount they have paid.

Plus, one of the cars I sold on the open market had 75k miles on it and I got a premium for it because it still has 50k of warranty left
If you are purchasing cars that need repaired i.e. warranty work, that would be the opposite of "winning". On my end, it sounds to me that you are not purchasing quality cars.

My definition of winning would be saying that the cars I have driven DID NOT need repaired due to faulty i.e. "junk" parts.

The past 100 cars that I have owned did not need "extended warranty" work on any of them. The cars that needed repaired due to inferior parts were done before warranty expired and even those that expired were covered due to recalls etc.

If I would have purchased $3,000 on each of them, I would have been out $300,000.

Now granted, some of them were used cars but you get the point. I would have been deep in the red and would have never made my investment back.

As I have stated in the past, I could afford to have around 10 cars literally exploding and I would still be ahead.

Lol, both things can be true. If you personally own 100 cars it's impossible for you to drive them much hence they are not wearing out and therefore do not need repairs.

My first MME had been in for repairs 14 times. The one I currently own has been in 5 times in a year and is currently experiencing an issue with the front camera. The last repair on the front camera would have cost $2800 but was covered under warranty. Considering the issue appears to be similar is logical to assume the currently needed repair would cost the same.

My car is out of factory warranty so repairs to the front camera would be at my expense or covered because I bought the warranty.
Do you really think I own 100 cars? What I said is that I have owned 100 cars.

My advice (take it with a grain of salt), would be to dump any car that has been in the repair shop 14 times before the original warranty expires. I would guess you could turn that into a Lemon Law Case? That seems highly unusual.

So let's recap: You purchased an MME that was in the repair shop 14 times and yet you purchased another one just like it and it has been in the repair shop 5 times in one year.

You must be the most laid back man on the Planet. I would never purchase any product again with having that many issues.

I have had my MME for 2 years and it is currently in the Shop getting repairs under warranty. Albeit it has only been in their once, I am quite certain that I am not going to purchase another MME unless there are some significant changes.

Have you ever thought of getting an Uber exclusively? :giggle:

There are two people who purchase the same vehicle.
One has multiple problems.
The other has never darkened the door of a service department.

Either could purchase the same vehicle and not be certain of whether their second example is going to be more reliable or not.

And switching to another make/model doesn't come with guarantees either. All you have is your gut and speculation based on the statistics.

I have no idea what timeframe you have owned 100 cars. But that doesn't change my point no way an individual could have driven 100 cars enough to have worn them out.
I own a Driving School and employ 8 people and with me included as a driver, that makes 9. I currently own 8 cars and I trade them in when they get close to 100k.

If I purchased a $3,000 warranty on all of them, I would currently be in the red of about $24,000. The average price of the cars I purchase are typically around that number.

Trust me when I say it is not financially worth it. I have been "around the block" more times than once.

I suspect that car ownership beyond factory warranty does in fact influence opinion to some degree.

I am about 50/50 for keeping vehicles beyond factory warranty.

Currently own 3 vehicles well beyond, and 2 vehicles safely within.

If we are going to keep the off topic debate going.

8 year 100k extended warranty can be got for almost half of the proposed $3k number.

We don’t need to do the “customer math” to know the extended warranties aren’t worth it.

Because the warranty companies did the math. And even after paying huge commissions to the salespeople, the warranties still make huge profits on top of that.

Some still buy them for “peace of mind.”

But you’ll never convince me to buy them for financial reasons.

The 5 pages are arguing about extended warranties is not very relevant….

Glad they got it figured out OP.

Maybe when you come back to show us it was 100% fixed the forum will have settled the extended warranty debate.
Extended warranties are dead! Long live extended warranties!

Looks like they just added 7C629 to the list of covered components for the 8/100 warranty. Everybody else with drive unit failures should be good to go from now on.

Ford didn't have the updated part number on their list, so that's why the claim was denied initially until someone was able to get through to the warranty claims department and had them correct the error.

It's showing covered by the 8 yr / 100k mile warranty.
Very nice to hear....so the drive motors are covered under the 8 yr/100k rather than the powertrain of 5 yr/50k.
Surprisingly, I just got a call today from my dealer that the car is ready. I may pick it up Monday.

So on Friday the 22nd, I got a call from the dealer that the car was ready. I picked it up yesterday the 25th. It took over 2 weeks to get the warranty issue cleared up, then they got the part in one day and installed it in one day. When I picked up the car the service mgr told me that as of yesterday Ford had NOT yet entered the part number back in the system so presumably, this can happen again until they add it.

I had two questions that I still don't have answered.

1. How much warranty do I have on this new part?
2. What warranty covers the drive motor; the 5yr/60k or the 8yr/100k?

The service mgr told me he was going to call and find out. I told him I'd give him a week or so. When I find out, I will update this post.

And yes, the car seems fine so far.
