this is not possible due to the current and voltage involved. i think all these DCFC cables have active cooling. a short stub like an adapter is OK but any extension cord would be prohibitively heavy and expensive, and possibly just a non-starter.
It is possible, and A2ZEV has a working one currently waiting for final approvals before release.

Now if you consider $300 and a cord that goes in your frunk too heavy and expensive /shrug.

hasn’t that been vaporware for years though?

there no way i would use an extension with the electric chair level voltages and currents we are talking about here. good luck with that.

It has not. They have shown working cords, given all the specs, shared information on all the certifications it will have. And even sent them off to Tesla (most likely, I can’t prove they are the “interested party”) for approval.

If the new administration imposes the 25% tariff on the Mach-E as they stated they would, then all bets are off in my view. Ford may just stop importing Mach-Es into the USA because they won't sell at that price point ($60k would become $75k). Same for Chevy Equinox EV. This will be a big win for Tesla. May have to wait for the next generation of Ford EVs being developed by the "Skunk Works" team.

yeah, i mean that’s what motivated my thinking to pull in my timeline. i figure those tariffs will just kill the MME.

but, i wonder if ford sells a nontrivial number of MMEs into non-usa markets.

not getting another tesla no matter what happens. i already didn’t like the minimalist controls and now that they don’t even have a turn signal stalk… no thanks.

On the bright side the used market prices should increase.

previously i had posted asking about MME alternatives, but i think i decided to just buy another mach-e now, in case the tariffs are real. i'm assuming it might be quite expensive to replace when my options loan ends in december 2025. could be wrong about this, of course, and not totally committed yet.

i understand that the NACS port is coming to the 2025 MY mach-e, but what about the port placement? it seems like unless they move it to the back of the car you're going to have a hard time charging at busy superchargers and/or end up in fistfights with angry tesla owners when you're blocking 2 spots to charge. anyone know if ford plans to move the port to the driver's side rear?

thanks
Just got this email

Somewhere north of 30% are sold in the EU/Eurozone/UK. Australia and New Zealand have them now as well.

I just heard an interview with the A2Z CEO on the latest Turn Down for Watt podcast. That extension cord may never see the light of day.

Will depend on if Tesla is willing to certify it or not. Which if they don’t, and backed out of making their own…that’s just being petty.

I usually agree with that, but, because they are not making one now….also can see them charging a license fee and in the end it’s sold as an OEM.

Besides, if you had a J3400 port on your car, you would just need an adapter to use it on CCS chargers when you use those.
Yep. And considering how many V2 Superchargers there still are (particularly on road trip routes), relying on SCs for all or most DCFC is often not workable.

There's no telling when Tesla will upgrade those. Could be years.
