I’ll probably get beat up over this because it’s been posted about before but I can’t find it.
Every once and a while, I hear a pretty loud Ding, Ding sound coming from the speakers like the car’s alerting me to something but there is nothing on the screen or display so I have no idea what the alert is for. I know somebody on this forum knows. Please share!

You're not alone, and 80% of the time I check my nav to make sure I don't have a destination set. It's just a ghost alert, who knows what condition was met and then unmet to remove the visual before you see it.

the time I hear it, it is notifying me that it has lost track of the "lane markers".

I’m always on CarPlay, so I never have my factory Nav on the screen, but that makes sense. I’ll start using the factory nav a little more to see if I can nail it down.

When I am using Android Auto and I get a text message on my phone, I get a loud noise and a white circle appears that I can click on to hear my text message. Maybe not the same noise, but loud and annoying.

Sorta like the odd beeps from time to time when you open the rear hatch.
Opens like normal, but with added beeps/chimes.

Every so often when? What are you doing? What is the car doing? A few more details might help as there a metric ton of things that can cause a ding sound all of which are context sensitive.

I connect my phone via CarPlay and will get an audio alert whenever I receive an iMessage/ text message.

Lately, I have been getting the double "bong bong" audible alert a few seconds after I start the car. It seems to happen at least 50% of the time, with nothing on the screens that would indicate what it was for. I am in my garage most of the time, so I doubt it is warning me about traffic or having lost the lane markers... ?‍♂

It's not that it is all that annoying, but it certainly has me wondering what it might be... Sounds like it might be different than what you're experiencing, although the alert sound may be the same...

I have found that sound does not happen if you buckle your seat belt before "starting" the car, so it is a warning to buckle your seat belt.

What AliRafiee said. But in addition to traffic alerts, there are alerts for entering school zones, and I think a couple other things. All of them will produce those noises even when you don't use the factory nav. Go in and turn all of them off and those sounds should go away.

Yeah, this is a different chime than the alarm that will beep up to 7 times (or whatever) if your seatbelt isn't fastened. The chime I am talking about is the different pitched "bong bong" that I think is maybe the same chime that you get in BC when it wants your hands back on the wheel... So it only makes the sound twice, in rapid succession, but there are no visible alerts on either screen. But thanks for the suggestion!

I lost that with iOS 18 and tried everything I could think of and have not been able to get it back. I gave up and turned on announcements - now it dictates the message when it arrives.

Could be an issue if the GF messages me when the wife is in the car. ?
