Greeting All,

I have been looking at other post here on the forums about charging faults and I too seem to have this problem. I woke up a couple days ago to see my schedule charge did not happen as planned. I went to work and came home to find out that after plugging in my charger to only see four orange lights around the charge port. After a little research and this forum, I see this error is a charging fault. I am using a Tesla charger that has previously worked for the past six months with no problems. I have only had the MME for 6 months now. I unplugged the charger and tried again, same problem. I took out the Ford charge that came with the car and the same problem.

I took the car the next morning to Ford and they plug the car in and the car started charging like nothing had happen. I find this hard to believe that this is still an issue for Ford. I am not new to EVs at all. I traded my Tesla in to try a ford and boy do I miss my Tesla. If you receive a charge fault, wouldn't the car keep a record of this somewhere? I feel like the dealership really did nothing as far as troubleshooting the issue. I think they plugged it in and saw it was charging and stopped looking. Is this a know issue?

Tesla chargers can cause problems with the Mach-E, make sure the firmware is updated on the charger and it’s set to J2772 compatibility mode in the settings.

If you continue to have problems, you might need to get a different EVSE that’s J1772 compatible. You could also have a wiring or outlet issue.

If the car charges fine on the charger at the dealership, the logical place to look for the problem is your charger at home. Just because it always used to work with your Tesla doesn’t mean it’s still working now.

Are you using the universal wall connector that has the J1772 adapter built in? Some Rivians owners were receiving charge faults with that charger earlier this year. As someone else mentioned, you may want to make sure that there isn't a problem with your connection at home. Is it hardwired to a breaker or are you using an outlet?

The Tesla chargers' firmware is up to date. They connect via Wi-Fi, and updates are pushed anytime new firmware is available. I have also changed the setting from any EV to a compatible mode. I just got the car back tonight, and so far, the charger sees the vehicle and is scheduled to charge at 9 p.m. EST.

Yes, that is correct. The charger is about four months old and hard-wired.

I think you are forgetting that I have even tried the Ford travel charger. Both did the same thing.

I hear what you are saying, but I fail to believe it.

That's why I mentioned that it could be wiring related. I'm not saying that it is your wiring, but the mention of the Ford charger not working as well is why I said that. If your vehicle charges tonight......then who knows. It's just hard to pin down a specific answer without knowing what affected the charging session for last night.

We will find out tonight, I guess.

Are you plugging both of them into the same outlet?

Yes, I am plugged into the same outlet.

I do have an update. I plugged car in last night and waited for the normally scheduled time to show up and everything started working as normal. Nothing has changed on my side. Same charger, same outlet, and same time. This kind of tells me it was the car. Again, nothing changed on my side.
