So, today it is 10 Degrees in Michigan and I put my heated steering wheel on and it got hot. However, 10 minutes later the steering wheel was not hot. I shut it and tried it 10 minutes later and found the same thing happened. I hate taking it in for service because they only have 1 mechanic for EV cars and will tell me nothing is wrong!

Mine does the same thing. I think it actually stays on, but doesn't keep the temperature as high after the initial warming. The manual states "A sensor regulates the temperature of the steering wheel". So I believe it may be designed that way, with the thinking being that once the cabin is warm, it isn't needed as much, and it reduces the amount of power it is drawing to keep it from affecting your range too much, but that's just conjecture on my part.

As others have stated, the heat decreases somewhat over time. In my experience, it does go down a bit after 10 minutes or so. It also seems that the temperature varies a bit from car to car; for some reason there is some slight variation in the placement of the heating elements in the steering wheel.

It’s a variability in the positioning of the thermistor that reports temperature to the car. Too close to the element and the temperature is turned down. ??

Sounds like this is as designed. Mine does the same. It does still stay warm enough for me though.
I do find this funny since my other car does not have a heated steering wheel. It also has a .7kg steel shift knob that gets really cold in the winter. I just always wear gloves when it is cold. Got a nice pair of leather gloves for driving.

I'm in chilly Michigan as well and I'm experiencing the same thing with the steering wheel. I don't think it's malfunctioning, I believe it's supposed to work that way.

Some other observations with winter driving:
- The GOM is totally wacko. Totally useless.
- My AWD model handles great in the snow.
- I feel some cold air seeping into the cabin at the bottom of the driver's seat on the door side. Not sure where it's coming from. As a result, it feels like the cabin never gets super toasty. Might just be due to the fact that it was only 10 degrees F outside.

Yup…definitely loses temp after 10 minutes or less. Normal and my previous ICE did the same . I don’t mind that it regulates itself even though it was brass monkey cold here today.
