I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else has been experiencing similar issues with their Mustang Mach-E. Here’s my situation:
Thanks in advance for any advice or shared experiences!
- Initial Error Messages:
- “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power”
- “High-Voltage Battery Warning”
- I brought the car to my local dealership, which has two dedicated EV techs. They kept it for about a week, performed a software update, and reset the error messages. Everything seemed fine when I got it back—at least at first.
- Return of Error Messages & New Charging Issue:
- Fewer than 200 miles after leaving the dealership, the same error messages popped up again.
- On top of that, I noticed extremely slow charging on both AC and DC fast charging.
- Slow DC Charging Example:
- At a 350 kWh-rated Electrify America charger (with my battery at low range), I only saw a max of ~40 kW.
- Typically, I should be getting at least 100 kW at that state of charge, if not more.
- Second Visit to the Dealer:
- I brought the car back in, and it’s now been another week in their shop.
- The dealer said they planned to replace the BCM (Battery Control Module) or HVBJB.
- I just heard from my Service Advisor who said Ford is having the dealership do some pin point testing on the HV Battery and they are still waiting on parts for the BCM or HVBJB.
- I did notice in the FordPass app that the car was plugged into a Level 2 charger at the dealership last week, and the error messages seemed to clear again. However, the slow charging problem still persists.
- Possible Causes?:
- I’m not an EV-certified technician, so I’m just trying to piece things together.
- My service advisor briefly mentioned the possibility of an issue with the HV (high-voltage) battery.
- I’m also wondering if a bad inverter or something along those lines could cause the slow charging and errors.
Thanks in advance for any advice or shared experiences!
