All,

I am wondering if there is any way to adjust how the seatbelt alarm works. As it is now (at least on my '23 premium), the car yells at me loudly as soon as I press the start button if I don't have my seatbelt on. While I understand that there is probably a federal requirement that I get nagged if I drive without a seatbelt, and I don't do that, but this alarm is just out of control. Even if I just put the car in accessory mode (hit start without pressing the brake) without having my seltbelt on, it yells at me. Does anybody know if there is a way to make it yell only if you put the car "in gear" or maybe exceed 5MPH without your seatbelt on?

Thanks,
Steve

That does not disable the first 4 dings that happen even your seatbelt isn’t connected when you start the car. At least it didn’t for me.

It is louder in my Mach E, but every other vehicle I own does the same thing. I just learned to buckle before starting the vehicle.

Just put your seatbelt on earlier ??ā€ā™‚ ?

You think you got problems?

Wifey waits until we’re off the drive and on way down the road EVERY time looking around as if she’s wondering ā€œnow, where’s that sound coming fromā€ until I can take it no longer when my self restraint snaps and I scream ā€œput your f*****g seat belt on, will you?ā€

Oh, how we giggle (NOT) silent sandwiched for rest of journey ?

Yes, the government changed the law because too many people were ignoring the warning. The audible warning now has to last 30 seconds if you turn on the car and you're unbuckled. It will start up again as soon as you exceed 6 MPH unbuckled and will not stop until the belt is fastened.

The simple solution is to just make sure you buckle your belt BEFORE you press the start button.

The warning when I am sitting, parked in my garage, not in gear, and not moving is utterly stupid. Pressing the start button before buckling in lets the car "boot" up while I buckle the seatbelt. Apparently, the "government" never read "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" fable.

Fortunately, there is a fix for that. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/forscan-mme-spreadsheet.24701/post-679638

I ALWAYS wear my seat belt, so I have no issue with the reminder when the car is moving.

Thanks for the link Emichnov. I was really hoping for a less invasive approach and one that didn't require spending money or giving Ford a reason to deny any future warranty claims.

Agree that I should be able to let my car boot-up in the garage without my seatbelt and not get yelled at. But even more annoying is that I can't even sit parked with the car in accessory mode without my seatbelt on!

Perhaps there is a software person from Ford lurking here and can maybe consider this an opportunity for improvement in a future software update?

They probably got to all the complaints lodged after banning drinking beer while driving and stopped overly caring about public feedback.

I think a lot of people have done changes using Forscan. I haven't heard of any denied warranty claims because of it. Now, if you mess up and brick the car, well, maybe then...

My ā€˜22 Premium doesn’t alarm when I start without the seatbelt fastened.
Also, I have used Forscan to make modifications so the car running double beep doesn’t happen and I’ve enabled the automatic lift gate without any issues from the dealer working on the car……so far.
