Cool! I've had this issue too. I looked at the manual and couldn't find a solution. Appreciate the help.

Of course. I think it's perfectly acceptable for people to buy vehicles that cost $50,000 or more, drive them for months or a year, then realize "hey, I didn't know I had that feature".

Reading the manual, downloaded in PDF format, is such a chore. I mean you have to READ, and it takes TIME, and that time could be better spent watching reality TV, right?

But make sure you read the manual on your electric toothbrush, or $20 toaster, or coffee maker, because you could kill yourself if you didn't understand the functions and limits of the collision avoidance system on them.

My mother (in her 80s with zero mechanical understanding) last year on a visit said "I wish I had heated seats". She lives in Florida, and her 2019 Fusion Hybrid has heated seats... I turned them on, and after a minute she said "wow, I like those. Glad to know I have them, you can turn them off." I refused, making her sit another 5 minutes getting very toasty, because there's got to be a price for ignorance.
Odd thing. The first thing i do after getting a new car home is sit in the car with the manual and read it. It was quite easy in the Mach-e as I could call the manual up in the big screen.

Too bad they removed that Mach-e feature (apparently) ;) /s

I got a car wash sticker with RFID on it. The reader wouldnt read it on my new 2024 Mach E premium. I tried lower left corner and upper left corner. The Car Wash worked with me and said, the MACH-E somewhow is blocking RFID signal. Is there a specfic place to place an RFID sticker for tolls or carwash?
I had a similar problem with the sticker that permits entry into my subdivision. The man responsible for installing the sticker attached it to the top corner of my headlight. It solved the problem. I use a car wash several times a month. The sticker has not detached.

Another method, if your phone or computer has AI capability you can ask AI. AI reads the manual. ?

Here is what I get with mine.
To put an RFID sticker on a Ford Mach-E windshield, place it in the shaded, black dot matrix area to the left or right of the rearview mirror on the inside of the windshield; this is the only spot where the signal will properly penetrate through the windshield's infrared reflective coating.

Carwash sticker on one side of the mirror, Ez-Pass on the other. Never had an issue.

I do think it would be helpful if the people who send you RFID stickers would mention in their instructions that you might want to consult the manual. Not everyone reads the parts about applying stickers. In Illinois, the toll authority insists you put them in the wrong place. Being suspicious of clear glass blocking RFID signals isn't the first concern of most people, even those inclined to be curious about such things.

I have my RFID tag on the bottom corner on the driver side of my select, never had an issue with it so far.
Many new cars have windshields that block RFID tags. Property manager gave me a tag that adheres to the outside. He placed it at the bottom of the right hand headlight assembl. Works great. It’s clear plastic so it’s difficult to even see

A relative has my old car (a 2019), the RFID reads from about 20 feet away. Even with the properly place one on my MME, and I put it so it would be close to the reader, I need to get within 8 feet of it to open the garage.

Several days later PS - my good to go pass for toll bridges, tunnels etc only sometimes worked. I called them, and coupled license plate # with the pass so no problems now, but it worked only sometimes without the coupling.

My work parking garage uses RFID and even in those spots by the mirror it only works about 60% of the time. Better than never though. It’s connected to the inner windshield by a couple Velcro strips, and I frequently have to take it off, roll down my window and wave it around outside the car. Been dealing with that for almost 4 years. It’s more like a puck than a sticker. Maybe that’s part of the issue. It fully fits in the area though.
Had similar problem. Even worked with the manager for the parking garage. They even put it in the black dots. It worked once. Tried again... didn't work. They got me one that mounts on top of the front plate. Thing is, I still drive my other car too so I just have it in the car and stick it out the window.

Until reading this forum, didn't know about this issue. I do check the manual but for things I know about. Never knew about windshield blocking IR. I don't read the manual font to back. If you do.... well good job you win an internet point!

Not sure when you did it, but stickers are free now. Just got this one because my windshield had to be replaced.
I got my free one, but when i applied to the wrong spot (or correct by old directions), I had to request a new one.
