I searched the forum but didn't find any posts on this. I am guessing that Ford does not allow Car Play or Android Auto to see the charge state of the vehicle. Is that accurate? If Car Play/Android Auto could see the vehicle's charge state this information could be passed to Google Maps which could then show you charge stations when you were getting low on power. I am guessing this is by design so that Ford can charge $80 a year for their maps.

Android Auto gets the battery status and shares it with Google Maps. I now get estimations for battery charge when I select destinations. Believe it has some route planning functions built in, but I don't do a ton of trips that involve charging so don't have experience with this.

I have been using Google Maps via AA, and it is great. Google Maps shows the estimated charge at destination, automatically recommends charging stops, and initiates the preconditioning process when routing to a charger. I freaking love it.

Actually both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were both first to partner with Ford to provide exactly that. Apple CarPlay has had it for years, and Android Auto got it last fall.

All the tools available from Ford for EV routing are detailed here: https://go.ford/evroadtrip

Is there a way to lower the destination state of charge? I just got this update and it wants me to charge enough to make it home at 31%, which is way too high in my opinion. Can I set levels similar to ABRP?

Thanks for the responses all. I will have to check google maps more closely when I am driving. Does it also show Tesla chargers?

My vehicle still doesn't have the corresponding update to support this (10.0.1 is required). Could be your issue..

Not that I know of.

I have had similar situations with the Ford navigation recommending a longer charge than I really need. If it says to charge it to 60% in order to arrive home at 30%, I would charge the car to 40% instead. Then I would monitor the estimated charge at destination after leaving the DCFC at 40% to make sure I make it. I have arrived home at pretty close to 0% before.

One time I cut the charge short because I didn't think I needed it, and because someone was waiting for the charger, and it was not enough. I had to stop again. It was raining on that trip and the efficiency was horrible. You have to keep the weather in mind, of course.

That's disappointing. Hopefully in a future update.
