Is it okay to leave your charging cable plugged into the 240 wall socket when not charging?

I unplug mine after every charge, but it is difficult to unplug and I'm worried that I'll eventually ruin the plug.

Yes it is perfectly fine to leave it plugged in. However, you should properly mount the EVSE to the wall using the included bracket (which is already attached to the EVSE). Leaving it hanging like that from the outlet will cause the outlet to fail and possibly the EVSE itself.

I've left mine plugged into the 240 outlet going on over a year and half with no issues.

What bracket are you referring to? The mobile charger didn't include one.

It absolutely did. Here's what mine looks like with it attached (so it doesn't get lost):

I wonder if this is really necessary. There doesn't seem to be a lot of downward pressure on it. If there was, it seems the bigger fear would be the adapter unplugging.

BTW, Mine extend out from the wall like the one above as well, and to get it to tie into the wall actually seems to be putting more pressure on that connector and outlet than leaving it alone.

Well, they wouldn't include it, and tell you to use it, if it weren't important to use it. Gravity will eventually pull the plug out of the socket, and the pigtail out of the EVSE.

You can screw a piece of 1x4 or 2x4 to the wall, and then the bracket to the wall to make it fit better and not put strain/pressure on the pigtail.

I really don't know how to process this...

To be specific... we have so many "lawyer" things in our cars because of lawsuits. Just look at the sun visor and the warning about the airbags... they have even gone to the point of making them leave a mark if they are removed, so they can't be sued because people didn't know about the risk involved with air bags.

Am I supposed to believe the "holder" for the mobile charger is anything more than a device to prevent yet another lawsuit?

No. It is meant to properly support and hold the EVSE while plugged into an outlet for an extensive amount of time. It is up to you if you want use it properly and hopefully prevent failure of the device. Were it me, I'd make sure the EVSE is properly supported. But you do you.
