My cutlery isn’t quite that aged. Mostly Dao and Katana, with a Union Civil War Sabre thrown in. This is my most recent cutlery. ??

Any suggestions about settings for the stock system? I like a lot of bass normally. Was thinking of adding a sub but didn’t know how it would affect the warranty? That being said I’ve had quite a few GM cars (hummer, corvette, blazer, caddy) where their Bose system is way better I think. I was excited getting a B&O system but so far it is just fair.

Agree with you there... the system is just fair. I don't have a suggestion for setting up the EQ because everyone hears sound differently, plays different music and has their own preferences in sound (more or less bass, treble, etc.). Would recommend in your vehicle list, you add the year as that makes a huge difference in posting here on this forum as yearly and even bi-yearly the Mach-E has changed. I assume you have a '24 since you recently joined less than a year ago.

Like I had mentioned in another post, not sure exactly when Ford changed the sound in the B&O system but my '24 does not sound anything like my '21 and I am not the only one that mentioned this. Both Steve and Joe said the same thing going from their '21 to '24. If you aren't going to do anything to the system, reducing the treble by at least half is a start since it is much louder and more harsh than the '21 system. Midrange is ok and the bass is much better than it used to be. Sure adding a sub will really help on the bass end since that is the weak area of this system but it is not all that bad.

It will not void any warranty unless installed improperly and causes issues with the electrical system. Even if that happens, does not void your entire warranty, only the whatever issue it caused. I started a thread almost 4 years ago about adding a sub to the system. Many here have done this and added their own subs and as far as I know, have never had any issues with the car.

I'm not sure when Ford changed the sound of the B&O system. Could have been '23 or '24 but I know it was not '22 since I have worked on a few of those and it has the same sound as the '21. I am pretty sure it was '24 though as that is when they also introduced the BEOSONIC EQ system. So if your system sounds like the '21, '22 then it is actually lacking in treble and I would turn that up at least half way. Also lacking in bass but unfortunately turning that up only produces more boomy mid-bass and that is why many of us have added our own subs.

My 23 loaner definitely sounded different than my 2021. The noticeable difference was how the center speaker was still on and loud in stereo mode.

Yes, forgot about that detail also. The center speaker is now on in Stereo mode where it was not in the '21. Of course I disconnected mine. I have no need for a center speaker in a car.

I thought the navigation voice came solely from the center speaker? It sounds that way in my car?

I have no idea. I don't use the Ford Nav. I use Maps in CarPlay and it comes out of front speakers. May have come out of center speaker too before but sounds just fine coming out of front door speakers.

Ah. Although I’m an Apple fanboy, I really hate Apple Maps for navigation. First, they’re too small, second, they aren’t as “smooth” in their animations, such as zooming. Third, they dynamically zoom weirdly and in a way I don’t like. I know I’m in a small minority, but I actually like the ford navigation system ?‍♂

Hey Mark, nice catch with this, any suggestion as to what the beosonic setting would be to reduce the harshness?
Thanks

Yes actually, you can get really close to the sound of my modded tweeters if you move the white dot in Beosonic half way between center and Warm. It might not sound like much of a change but it definitely reduces the harshness and smooths out the high end.

Hey @markboris, thanks for making this thread when you did!

I have everything ready that I need for the subwoofer install, but was holding off on running the power wire for a bit as the car is still so new (to me) in case I had issues and had to warranty it. I know that audio technically doesn’t affect warranty, but it could add a layer of complications convincing them of that, especially for a 12 V battery issue, or inverter or something along those lines.

I always thought the audio sounded decent, and if anything I had to boost my Treble by 2 bars and my mid by one on my ‘22 GTPE.

I finally received my first OTA update, and they have been rolling in by 1-2 /day. I was on 3.5.3, then received the 4.2.1 update, then the 4.2.2 with the updated sync and I noticed my audio sounded completely off.

I recalled this thread that you wrote, and realized that it sounded like there was sound coming out of my centre speaker when I was in stereo mode, and that had never happened before. Also realized that the audio sounded harsh on the high end.

I pulled my center speaker cover and confirmed that there was now sound coming out of the centre speaker in stereo mode with my finger, so I swiftly disconnected it.

I have also had to turn my treble down by 2 notches. Once I get a few more updates, either OTA or through FDRS, I’ll run forscan to enable Beosonic to bring down the brightness as you recommended above.

Also, I’ve been on the fence about buying a cheap class D amp to boost the door woofers while I do my sub install as you recommended it for your ‘21. Since this update, I noticed that overall volume levels are down and what was loud enough at volume 18 previously now needs around 25.

Did you notice this on your ‘24?

Will keep everyone posted on how it goes!

As far as the sound being louder, that would be hard for me to tell as I had piggybacked an amp after the B&O in my ‘21 so it was louder to begin with.

I guess that audio update brought it up to the ‘24 sound of being harsh and running the center channel all the time even in stereo mode. Knocking down the treble a few notches is the right thing to do.

How is the overall volume output of your factory ‘24 amp compared to ‘21 with the added JL amp?

From your comments, I take it you have enough headroom with the factory ‘24 system?
