Can someone confirm if the remaining modules are safe to update on a 2021 Job 2?

An amazing member on here? (He's in the Facebook group) had a tech run some updates for me a few weeks ago. Those are the ones I checked in red. The others are still outstanding (ABS, CCM, IPMA, PSCM, BECM, SOBDM, DSP, WACM, RFA).

The last round of updates fixed BC for me (I was locked out of subscribing on Ford Connect prior to the updates).

I'm still on 6.14.0 and I don't think this car has received any updates at all in almost a year, though I'm unsure how to confirm that. I contacted the previous owner and they said the last update was around May 2024 which was the 6.14.0 update. Ford website says no updates have been made in over 90 days, which it has said since I bought the car in the first week of January this year. I'm starting to get concerned there's an issue but I'm hoping with the module updates maybe things will start moving again.

Anyways, I'm digressing. Just wondering if it's safe to update the pending modules.

there are no guarantees. However, I have a 21 job 1 and have updated everything available every 6 months via FDRS for the last few years. The last update push I did was in December. I've not had any problems caused by running the most recent available code.

The IPMA update takes a few hours.

I appreciate the reply, thank you. They're supposed to come back out tomorrow to do some more updates, I just wanted to make sure. It's a legit Ford service center but the technician said he had never updated a Mach E before so I just wanted to make sure if there was anything he shouldn't update, I could let him know.

I know the IPMA is a LONG update so if he doesn't know that, I'm going to tell him to avoid that one for now.

I might just drop the $700 and get a Mongoose cable and battery tender so I can manage these myself in the future. Plus I doubt ECG-24.2.5.6.3 ever came though (though I don't know if FDRS can update that) and I think there is something causing updates to not happen in this car.

I've been told, if it's on the list of SW Updates then it can be installed safely. Since you are taking it to the dealer then you don't have to worry about the order that you/they install them.

If there is a conflict then FDRS will not list it, and it will be greyed out and have lines through the module on the left side of the toolbox tab.

*Edit for clarification

Awesome, great information to have in case I decide to manage this myself in the future.

I appreciate the info, thank you.

Do NOT use a Battery Tender for software updates. You need a regulated power supply capable of supplying 50A or more continuously at 13V. ??

Putting an investment into an FDRS rig is (IMO) wise. ??

Haha, wrong terminology! I meant a power supply.

I've seen this one posted several times on here so I'll probably grab one of these.

That is the one I have and used it many times to update.
I just ordered the Mongoose cable and this power supply. Screw it, it's an investment.

Question. Do I need to buy clamps for this or does it come with some? I realized I didn't see any in the pictures.

All the modules FDRS shows for your VIN are specific to your VIN and safe to apply. The newer versions of FDRS will not release an update if there is a suspected issue and flag it with a GVMS warning where you can submit a ticket to Ford engineers to review and release it. If it is in the "SW Updates" tab, it is safe to apply it.

I'm still waiting for my cable and power supply but a tech updated almost all of the remaining modules today. He saved the IPMA for another day but I should be able to do it Saturday once all my stuff comes in the mail.

Any idea why the BECM and SOBDM would fail to update though? He said he tried a few times and the updates kept failing.

Sometimes, just turning off the car for a half hour, restarting the laptop and trying again can make some of these annoying failures go away.

Awesome, thank you for the info. I'll mess with them on Saturday along with the IPMA.

So at this point I should just be outstanding with those three. There's no other updates of any kind pending, correct? If you don't mind looking of course.

I wish I could push the ecg update myself, I think that's what's holding my updates back at this point. There's been nothing since April of last year. Just waiting for that dang 10.1.0 update already lol.
