Dealer has had the vehicle for a week and is unable to figure out what is causing it. When opening and closing the rear liftgate the car makes 3 beeps. Curious to see if anyone here has come across this issue and found a solution.

Dealer can't help, it is a software bug.

Happens to me, too. Drives me nuts, but it is a first world problem.

Yeah this car beeps, boops, and bops so much I have no idea what it’s doing or telling me anymore. It all pretty much just gets ignored to the point that it’s pointless.

The pinch-detection software is too sensitive. I think there was an update to fix this. Ask your dealership to see if you have any updates pending in FDRS. If so, they can hopefully get Ford to reimburse them for the time needed to do the update for you.

Dealer has had it for a week. They've pretty much reset everything back to factory. Awaiting updates from Ford hotline.

The funny thing is, there was an engineer who programmed the 3-beep sound. You would think this would be documented somewhere. It's amazing the disconnect that exists between the people who design and build these things to the people who provide support. They might as well be on different planets.

Is it a beep or a chime? Mine chimes 3 times when I close my tailgate. It doesn't make that sound when I open it. I just thought that was normal.

That started happening on mine after I updated everything I could using FDRS a few months back. It didn't do that before I updated. I got it to briefly go away when I adjusted the opening height, but it came right back.

Isn't that a safety feature? Let's you know it's opening and closing?

When you are intentionally opening and closing it?

That would be like opening the driver's door, and getting three chimes to let you know that the driver's door is open. No safety is being added.

If the driver door fully opened and closed automatically then I would expect chimes to warn people around.

With the liftgate, it warns people around that the door is moving on it's own.

Been happening almost every time since I bought the car 3 years ago.
Let me what they find, I’m just curious.

Seems the chimes are standard on closing the hatch only.

When opening the hatch, I never get the chimes outdoors, but usually do inside my garage. Apparently the car gets nervous about the hatch door hitting the ceiling and chimes about that. Not always, but most of the time.

Is that the same thing you're getting?
