Where did it go wrong? Are you sure you got the actuator pushed all the way forwards to release tension on the latch cable? Did you replace or unplug the actuator motor? (It will get stuck again the next time you use the electronic release unless you replace it)Sun-uv-bits
Did the whole write up from @MachLee
Definitely difficult, but doable.
Thought I was pretty happy with myself
Hood still stuck

OK, make sure you unplug the motor if you're not replacing it, if you hit the button by accident you'll be screwed again. Leave the frunk tub out or loose until you're sure the manual latch release working. You can take just the striker and push it down hard into the latch to get it fully latched, then have a helper pull the manual release twice while you hold the striker (so it doesn't go flying) to test the latch. That way if it gets stuck you don't have to go through the whole process again. You can also manipulate the catch with a screwdriver to get it fully latched, just be aware it's a powerful spring-be careful.Just part one
I don't have the part yet
Relatively sure I got it all the way forward, as the latch popped out when the manual was pulled.
My guess is wasn't reset somehow?
When the latch was out, the manual felt like it was pulling again.
Once all together, I couldn't fully close the hood again, back at square one.
What does the mechanism look like in a good state open?
How do I get it reset even with the latch out?
Must be that I didn't get it forward enough.OK, make sure you unplug the motor if you're not replacing it, if you hit the button by accident you'll be screwed again. I believe this is open state. The cable pull lever on the lower left is fully to the right, and the cable should not feel under tension.

If you think the latch is bad too, then order one (LJ8Z-16700-A) in addition to the other -C part with the motor.
If I had to guess, you maybe didn't push the pivot arm far enough forward to get the motor fully extended (which won't release all the tension on the latch cable to allow the latch to cycle), or you left it plugged in and accidentally activated the motor causing it to get stuck again.
I’m assuming not - or would have already been addressed - but is there any way to temporarily disable the frunk open warning alert with FORScan?Must be that I didn't get it forward enough.
Definitely didn't hit the button again.
Was nice and warm yesterday, today it fuggin cold....
Maybe next weekend
Driving around with this thing blaring at me is driving me crazy
FYI you want to make sure the motor-powered release works, because if your 12V battery dies you’ll be totally screwed and won’t be able to get the hood open with the emergency leads. Destructive entry would be required in that situation.I took my cabin latch>release problem to the dealer twice. They said it works fine. The 2nd time, after the dealer handed the fob to me, I went directly to the car and sure enough, the release lever in the cabin worked.
I stood there stunned and looked at my hands where one hand had paak and the other had the fob. And I'm thinking, is the cabin frunk release not recognizing paak?
I tried to repro the problem but it didn't repro. Now I carry my fob. I know, it sounds insane... john
After fixing mine with the great write up here, I will basically only ever use the manual release now....Sigh - just got hit with this today. Went to the garage to pull some stuff out of the frunk. Used the Ford App to open the frunk. Instead of hearing the usual 4 releases in quick succession, I just heard one release of sadness and the frunk is stuck in the “intermediate” position. Can’t force it closed. The manual release does nothing. The Ford App and the “7/8” on the keypad cause a small click sound, but nothing else. Waiting to have the vehicle towed to the dealer. Fortunately, I have a 6 year, 60,000 Ford Protect plan (thank you @Zach@granger ). Now waiting for Ford Roadside Assistance to tow the vehicle.
I understand. The remote release is so convenient though. Hopefully, @Ford Motor Company will fix this in the next generation vehicle. After fixing mine with the great write up here, I will basically only ever use the manual release now....
its the plastic worm gear, it just wears out after use, un-avoidable as manufacturer in the auto release, and works different from the manualI understand. The remote release is so convenient though. Hopefully, @Ford Motor Company will fix this in the next generation vehicle.
