Finally got the bluecruise 1.3 update on my 2021 job 1 premium MME, but the update failed. Can anyone tell me why?

My blue cruise 1.3 update failed as well. Car had to be towed. My car failed for an update Last year about the same time for a different update.

Yikes, I'm glad mine was at least driveable but that sucks. I feel like Ford should be better at this, especially given how much time they delayed it to "get it right".

My 2021 Job 2 (Ext Range Premium) downloaded and installed 1.3 last night without any issue fortunately.

It’s a 21 Premium Extended Range
Mind sharing your VIN via message so I can check to see what happened? Most likely, it failed to come out of inhibit mode. Very easy fix for the dealer, but sucks hard for owners when it happens.

Was hoping someone could look up why my update failed. I manually started it only to come back 2 hours later to see it failed.

VIN: 3FMTK3RM6MMA35834
I got the update day before yesterday and it failed the first time but I started it again yesterday and it went in with no problem. It takes about 2 hours. I have a 2021 GTPE.

Yea, that's exactly what happened. Again, very easy fix for the dealer, but a huge inconvenience for the owner. These things are very rare, but in any facet of life, sh*t happens. You should be getting you ride back soon.

@logcat It could have been worse.

Same initial failure too. I wonder what's up with that.

Any way for us to reset without getting towed to the dealer?
Unfortunately, no. It used to be if the owner of a vehicle has FDRS, they would be able to get the vehicle out of inhibit mode themselves. However, Ford recently changed something in the BCM where you need dealer login credentials in order to access the BCM to update it, so this may bot be possible for owners to do it themself anymore.

This happened to a member on the Lightning forum some time ago, and he was not able to get it out of inhibit mode. We had to remote into his laptop and use dealer credentials to do it. It would need to happen to more people with FDRS access before I can say for sure this is the case.

It would be GREAT if the FORScan team would be able to add the inhibit release function to it.

Thanks for the info! Another question: is it possible that my almost 4 year old 12V battery needs replacement? Is it a possible cause whereby it is not able to sustain a large update?

Possible? Yes. In your case, the battery was not the issue. The OTA process is actually very strict about checking the battery requirements before it will allow the OTA to install. If your battery was not up to spec, the OTA would not have gotten as far as it did to where it could have caused the issue.

Guess I am lucky that the blue cruise 1.3 update only screwed up adaptive cruise control

I think I'm in the same boat. My 2021 GT keeps telling me "Update Not Completed" for BlueCruise 1.3 as of yesterday. Could @rugedraw or anyone else verify if mine failed for the same reasons? VIN: 3FMTK4SE8MME01009
