I am seeing advertising for Rubbit all over the place and am curious if anyone has tried it in real life, and if so, what the results were...

I always assume gimmick, but am hoping to be surprised.

Please let me know.

There’s no such thing as free lunch. Whoever invented this has never been to the Midwest during winter (maybe ever).

I would advise you not to let them Rubbit, lest your charge port open and the cover gets knocked off. I've switched to touchless. You'll find in the forums that many MME owners have had trouble with carwashes.

Why would you advertise for something when you don't know much about it?

If you’re talking about the Rubbit waterless car wash system, then I can say that I use it at home every week. I think it works great.

I got the e-sprayer I don’t have to keep pumping it up. I add water and the foaming soap into it, spray a section of the car, wait 20 seconds, then use the included towels to wipe it clean.

I live in Florida, so I don’t deal with winter weather. It wouldn’t be good for a heavily soiled car.

I would imagine it works like other foaming no rinse products. I haven't used this, but did use Optimum Hyper Foam this past winter to great results. I foamed to soak the winter road grime and salt, then rinsed and washed with blue ONR.

Like with any of these products, it works great for lightly to moderately dirty cars. Caked on dirt would require a bit more effort. However, don't be fooled into thinking you don't need to rinse the car first before washing for most instances.

Nothing more satisfying than a foam cannon and two buckets to scrub the salt and grime off. The waterless solution feels like nonalcoholic beer or decaf coffee. What’s the point?

I use Griot’s waterless wash upon occasion when I want the car to look nicer without a full wash. As with all waterless washes, they work with light dirt and require specific techniques, or you’ll scratch the paint. A panel needs to be sprayed with the waterless car wash and a microfiber towel needs to be pretty damp with the waterless wash as well. Then you need to wipe with the damp microfiber towel in a single direction only and dry the area with a clean section of microfiber. Most of the waterless washes are a version of a car wash with a fair bit of liquid wax in them. The wax is the lubricant.

Waterless washes are not good for anything beyond light dirt. For moderate or greater dirt, you need either a full two-bucket wash (or foam cannon) or a no-rinse wash (modest amounts of dirt or less).

If you’re in an area with real winters, or salted (etc.) roads, waterless isn’t a silver bullet that’ll keep your car clean. I live in an area with brutally mild winters, roads in good condition, and only our iron rich soil as the primary dirt (unless one of the volcanoes are erupting) so it works for me.

The only part of the Rubbit ads I genuinely like and find interesting is the sprayer, but my pull-trigger sprayer for the Griot’s works just fine and is a fair bit cheaper.
