I’m sort of surprised - we are on the 3rd model year and still, nobody has come out with illuminated door sills?

Agree. Now on the 5th model year and still no illuminated door sills. So..... I got tired of waiting and created my own. Been working on this on and off for a couple of months and on my third revision but it's getting close. ? Will do a full writeup in the DIY section when I'm happy with it.

I bought a set of battery-powered rechargeable light up magnetic sills a few years back. Ugly as heck. They’re just sitting on my computer desk gathering dust. Mark’s foray into lighted scuff plates is more my speed. ??

See! And if they were a Ford accessory, they’d be able to tie into the ambient lighting in the cabin to match the colors!

Jim, how often do you change your ambient lighting colors? Most everyone I know, chooses a color and sticks with it.

I actually keep it synced to the factory defaults with the drive mode. I never change my drive mode from Unbridled, but the occasional Ford gremlin sneaks into the car and switches it to engage.
I don’t actually care for orange, but I’m sort of weird about factory defaults. I would likely prefer something in the blues or whites if I went ahead and set it myself.
I understand the point you’re making - I just don’t think it would be tough for Ford to do since they already have that data coming into the door (so it also should be someplace reasonably close to th me door sills).

I would buy these if they made them, especially since my Select doesn’t have ambient lighting.

I installed the EV-Vida ambient lighting kit and it does sync the colors with the Ford Ambient lighting (all except for Ice Blue) but this illuminated emblem you can choose the color you want and brightness with a remote and it will always power up to that last setting. I was asking as I may be able to mess around with it and get it to sync with the Ford ambient lighting if it was something that was important to you and others. Thing is, you only see this when you open the door. Once you are inside the car, it is not an issue.

Understood.

I’ve looked at that kit a few times and wondered if it would work in a Select if I enabled the ambient lighting in Forscan. I know their site says not to order if you don’t have the factory lighting.

I don't know the answer to that. I have installed this kit in 4 cars now but they have all been Premiums and GT's. I think there is a kit out there that will work in cars that don't have factory ambient lighting.

I get it. They’re something I would get, even if they were only white (which might actually make sense from an “illuminate the entry” perspective).

It should be really easy to do since they already do it with the gas Mustang...

Update Jim, I cannot get this particular illuminated emblem that I am using to sync with either the Ford ambient lighting or the EV-Vida lighting kit. Only two colors sync and the brightnesses are off. Thing is, all ambient lighting systems are a little different. The one in my '20 ICE Mustang is not like the one in the Mach-E and I cannot connects lights from one to the other. Then we have the EV-Vida and the one I am using that are also different. So bottom line, I am happy just using a remote to set the color and brightness of this kick plate emblem how I want and it stays at that setting until I were to change it. I keep all my ambient lighting on blue and only change it when someone wants to see the different colors. To me, they are all too distracting at night except for blue.
