Ford Mustang Mach-E BlueCruise 1.5 for 2025 Mach-E (Owner Review) IMG_8081

We bought a 2025 Mach-E last week and brought it home on Wed. Tested out the BlueCruise 1.5 today and was amazed at how well it managed automatic lane changes and center lane handling. Very smooth driving. Granted, this car is replacing a 2013 Honda Pilot, so anything new is an improvement. This car is fun to drive.

I set the speed to 7 over and drove in the left lane. The Chicago expressway was heavily congested and this car would seamlessly pass to the right with slower traffic eventually getting over to the far right lane. All I had to do was increase/decrease speed with the cruise control buttons.

Was it deciding on its own when change lanes?
Why did you have to slow down and speed up with the buttons? Just set it and forget it. I let the car read the speed limit signs and set itself to 5 over. I used to have 9 over but that used too many electrons in 70 MPH zones.

I like the new layout. Lots of empty space for Ford to add the music info and a mini map to the IPC

Yes, it would decide on its own when to change lanes.

Did not know about the car being able to change the speed based off of signs. I’ll have to look into that.

i Had my car misread a couple of signs so always be ready to take control. I quit using it after that, it’s been a couple of years, possibly the issue has been resolved. Congrats on the new ride, I can confirm 3 years later it’s still fun to drive!

I'm sure the car icon in front was always a black MachE, but wondering if maybe they mixed it up for trucks or larger vehicles.

Automatic lane changes are a setting. It likes to move out of the fast lane when it can. Several times it moved over behind a slower car and wanted to move back to the fast lane a minute later. Maybe it could look further ahead to avoid that? ?‍♂

Which highway were you on? With 1.3 it always disengaged once you pass the 90/94 fork and stay on 94 heading north. I didn’t renew despite ford calling my wife a few times.

I290 to I355 to I88 and back. It only told me to put my hands on the wheel a few time like when going through a toll booth. It did surprisingly well on some of the sharp turns around I355/I88.

Did not want to try any of the construction zones on my first drive, but will try one in a few weeks.

The updated IPC and BC1.5 look like nice little enhancements. Would be cool
If these eventually get pushed to older models. Although I could also live without them.

Truthfully, I’m about 95% satisfied at this point with the state of the software in my 2021. My only serious gripes are the lack of a one-tap trunk button on the Home Screen, and a lot of empty wasted space on the IPC. It’s honestly one of the sparsest IPCs I’ve ever seen. Ford has been offering options to customize the amount of data on the IPC for decades, but not the MME.

Speed sign switch should come with a giant warning of 'car may accelerate to your posted over speed whenever it sees a sign, even if the sign is not on the road you are driving on. Speed braking can and will also occur'

I wonder if they fixed the issue in slower traffic where someone in front of you leaves a gap in front of them, then rapidly accelerates into the next lane. For some reason my BC 1.3 thinks it's time to go and speeds up then slams on the brakes. I've heard others mention something similar with motorcycles. I hzve a couple other gripes but one is corner speed correction. It's very jerky and attempts to accelerate and decelerate multiple times in curves which annoys people behind you.

The corner speeds seemed very smooth. Kept the speed I set and stayed in the middle of the lane. I’ve seen videos of older BC and it’s improved a lot.

Can’t comment on acceleration/deceleration problems since I only drove it the one time on the expressway. Will be interesting to see how it response to stop and go traffic.

Beware of speed limit signs on the service roads next to the expressway. Our car always reads those signs and incorrectly interprets that as the limit for the expressway. I can't use speed sign recognition because of this. Just FYI.
1.5 sounds great though - hope it can be pushed to older cars.

Ha ha ha, Ford update an IPC? Not likely but I like your optimism!

I have what is kind of the opposite issue - BC reading the speed limit signs in the express lanes that are 10 to 15 MPH above the posted limit in the peasant lanes. I gave up the auto speed limit a while back.
