This is my question also. I assume it would be overloading the mount. What is the user error you refer to on bike racks? I've never used one on a hitch mount.
I have no intent of towing but I have thought about installing a Stealth hitch on my GT so I can carry a bicycle or two. I know that the back of a travel trailer is about the worst place to put a bike rack because of the dynamic environment but I haven't seen any warnings about car-mounted receivers assuming you keep within the loading requirements. I put a Curt receiver on a 2008 Prius and it has a weight limit consistent with a 2-bike rack (1-1/4 inch receiver, 200 pound tongue weight). I wouldn't put a 4-bike rack there but I haven't seen a major brand (e.g., Thule) 4-bike rack with a 1-1/4 inch receiver.
