Another option - 2022 Select trims had option of a 19" aero wheel (19" PNTD ALUM WHL W/ AERO CVR). You can see them in my profile pic.
Nice looking but I think a lot of the increased efficiency comes from the smaller wheel size and smaller tire.

What kinds of efficiency are you getting at freeway speeds (and at what temps, elevation changes)?

I just replaced the 19 with the 18 today. I can say the ride is noticeably more comfortable. I used the Carbonite gray wheel from the Select, with the same Michellan stock tires. I will let you know about the performance once I drive more. I'm also curious.
Might you have a link for those 18" wheels?

On our usual rough roads the CR1 at 39 psi rides like a brick out house. I lowered the air pressure to 36 psi…..makes a world of difference. Once spring finally arrives I am going to try 37 and 38 looking for a compromise.
That's is surprisingly one of the advantages of 19" and 20" wheels you can actually get a softer ride. Hear me out the 39psi is what's causing the harshness of impacts if you can lower that you will feel less harshness. I tried this two different ways 255/45/20 105w on my premium @ 36 psi. And I also had a 245/50/19 105w @ 36psi. The higher load rating let's you support stock weight at lower pressure. This summer going to do 255/50/19 107w @ 32psi should be super smooth

The downside is lowing the pressure make the car less efficient.

The wheel size itself likely has a negligible effect, since the smaller wheel has a taller tire assuming you use the factory configurations. The overall diameter is approximately the same.

225/60R18 tires have a diameter of 28.6"
225/55R19 tires have a diameter of 28.7"

It’s the wheel design/drag that affects range. The aero wheels are designed to reduce drag at higher speeds.

I get 3.1 uphill and 5.1 downhill at 65mph in warm weather. Details on those measurements here: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/drive-from-chandler-to-payson-az.7123/post-653813

When I had a premium I switched to the CR-1 wheels and tell you there was a noticeable increase in efficiency. I would say it's right on par with the claimed efficiency of the CR1. I think if you examine the two cars there's not any mechanical difference between a CR1 and a premium I do believe there is a small weight difference.
Just curious....did you keep the same tire size? I'm thinking of going from 225/55/19 to 235/60/18 on my 2022 Premium. I really interested in ride quality...efficiency not a big deal for me. Thank...Doug

When I had my premium, the best ride quality was with the 255/45/20 105V XL @ 37psi. The harshness of the ride was the problem. The roads where I live are horrible. By lowering the tire pressure, the tire absorbs many of the bumps in the road, effectively softening the ride enough to make me happy.

You could do a 245/50/19 105 xl @ 37psi for a similar effect

Thanks....I've read the 245 won't fit on the OEM 19" rim from posts, but TR said they should fit 7" width rims.. Staying with a 19" would save money and I've got almost $600 in Ford Credits. Perhaps Pirelli scorpion AS Plus 3 in 245/55/19?

Vancouver WA and especially Portland OR the roads are very bad also. I upgraded to the Eibach progressive springs a year ago and it helped somewhat, just trying to get it better. My wife has a bad neck (5 car accidents....one last August we got rear ended in the Mach E). SAFE car in an accident. Love the car otherwise for the local driving we do other than the ride. Looking back should have gotten the GTPE with air suspension.

PS I trying and keep the OEM 225/55/19's at 36psi but not enough

That's is not correct. I ran 245/50/19 on my factory premium wheels.

Use Tire Rack as a reference under specs it will tell you what size rim is required

I attached one for a 245/50/19 it says this will fit a 7-9" wide rim, the premium wheels are 7.5" wide

Thanks so much for the advise....will put on 245/55/19 next week. Looking forward to a better ride and good looking tires!

I would do 245/50/19 the 245/55/19 is about an inch taller.

I always try to get as close to factory size as possible. The ABS/ Traction control/ speedo are all calibrated to overall tire height.
