The 2012 user manual does not mention this specifically. When I look at a 2022 user manual, it very nicely points out the vehicle can be winched from either the front or the back (see attachment). And the 2022 manual does indicate the proper winch connecting points in front of the front wheels.

Does any 2021 owner have experience with being winched when there's no access from the front? For example, parked in your garage after driving straight in.

This is an educational question...

I think you are misinterpreting the graphic.

All but the front (check marks) point are the international "no" symbol.

There are no rear winching points. The screenshot of the manual you posted is saying you need to use the front winching holes whether you are winching the car forwards or backwards (which doesn’t make much sense but it is what it is).

That’s exactly the way I interpreted it. But what I’m asking is if the 2021 can be winched exactly as the 22s and up can.

No...I have been fully aware that only the 2 front attachment (check marked)points can be used

You need a tow truck with Dollie’s. Attach dollies to front and rear wheels. Tow from parking spot by rear dolly. Been there. Done that. Didn’t get the tee shirt but the tow driver knew his stuff. Tight spot too but no damage to 2021 MME GTPE.
