This morning I was stopped at a stop sign on an incline (fairly steep, nose up). I was waiting for an opening to take a left turn. Took my foot off the brake and immediately started roll backwards. Stepped on the brakes and stopped. I released the brake again and started rolling backwards again. I waited a second or two and it kept rolling backwards, at least a couple of feet. Thankfully no one was behind me. Hit the brakes and pulled back up to the stop sign. When I had the chance to turn left, I immediately hit the accelerator and successfully went on my way. I'm at this intersection daily so it's definitely new. I drive in whisper mode all the time, never 1pd. FYI, I turned off automatic braking in reverse a few weeks ago because when I'm backing out of my driveway and it senses traffic, it slams on the brakes. I'm not even near the end of the driveway and can't see the road until I get closer. Thoughts?

With 1pd off, I’d expect that. An ice car would also roll backwards down a steep hill if you let off the brake. If 1pd was on, I’d expect it to hold without pressing the brake but it might roll backwards if you lightly brushed the gas.

Seems normal to me.
Did you turn on/off auto hold?

Actually lots of ICE cars have auto braking on a hill. My 21018 Volvo XC60 for instance did.

And as @Rt1Hutch said, he drives this intersection daily so he knows how the car usually acts.

@Rt1Hutch, if this happens again, I would take the car to the dealership. You should still be under warranty (unless you drive a lot) and it could be there's something wrong with the braking system. Before you do that though, you could try disconnecting the 12V battery for about 10 minutes reboot all the modules. That sometimes resolves software-related issues.

No! I recently noticed some other settings were changed (OTA?). The carplay display changed too. Autohold is on now, but haven't had a chance to go back to my hill.

Many thanks!

Unfortunately over the years we have seen settings change when some updates come in. I suspect that the behavior will be back to what you expect with it turned back on. ??

When your talking about a feature that is controlled by a setting….double check the setting before you jump to “take it to the dealer”.

That is expected behavior with 1PD and Auto Hold off.
