I live 7 minutes from our locaal drag strip and my son works there part time. I ran mine on Friday and did 11.78 at 113mph and backed it up with an 11.76 at 113mph. Quicker then the 11.81 Ford claims. it was only 19 celcius. I'm hoping with warmer weather and weight reduction I can get into the 11.60's. My stock 2023 GT 5.0 went 11.81 at 119, so I currently have the quickest car I have owned. What times have other people posted?

Great time!

Honestly, not many do.

I would bet your beating the advertised time would be from your ability to be at full 100% charge being that close to the drag strip. Not many are so close to one and show up with a little lower charge.

Even at 90% charge I can feel our cars are a just slightly slower than 100%.

Nice to see those times! I ran the 1/8 mile and my best was 7.52 at 91.8mph. 1.71 60ft. 86% charge. I'd be curious as to your timeslip to compare. I ran a 7.53 at 91.4 mph at 79%. Very consistent.

How do you find a race track that will let you drag?
Drag racing tracks let anyone drag. We have one here too. It’s $25 to “run what you brung” on open test and tune nights.

The tracks that used to be out here had "grudge night." Any car could partake in the racing they did on grudge night as long as they passed tech inspection (basically a visual check for a working coolant catch can and for any leaks). Back in the day the closer of the two tracks was NHRA-sanctioned so any car that ran a 13.99 or quicker was required to have a 4-point bar and any car running 12.99 or quicker was required to have a 6-point cage. There were a lot of street cars crossing the traps with their brake lights on. The closest track now is a couple of hours away, so grudge nights there are out of the question for me. ?‍♂?

Dang they’re strict.

Around here you just need a helmet if you’re fast on the local 1/4 mile track.

LOL people used to wear all sorts of janky helmets, especially the people who were hard on the brakes. ??

Baylands in Fremont had to do that because of the NHRA sanctioning. I did once have a 17+ second car with a cage on that strip. The cage was required by the SCCA. I just wanted to benchmark that car against my street Celica. ??

Yeah the local track has all the same “rules,” but the only one I’ve seen them enforce is the helmet rule.
https://racebmp.com/rules/tnt/

If they enforced them, a Tesla plaid would need a roll cage, fire suit, helmet and a parachute.

The rules haven’t changed in decades. Back from when a 13 second car was “fast.”

I believe the track here enforces all those rules. My son races out there and has to figure in those costs as he improves his car. He hasn’t been out since I bought my mme but he’s almost ready to start back up. I never raced my 91 Corolla ? but may take a couple runs with this car I believe I’ll only need a helmet.

With a 99% charge and a preped track with a 21 degree temp, I was impressed with the 1.69 60ft and an 11.74 time. I can't wait for warmer weather

Unless you have an engine transplant in that Corolla, you probably don’t even need a helmet. I needed a helmet in the street Celica, but the race Celica was so slow that I did not need a helmet (despite the roll cage, battery cutoff, window net, extinguishing system, etc.). ??
