Yeah, better paint, too. It'll be a good day for Tesla when they can get the Austin facility up to speed.
Tesla in Fremont pretty much has the paint sorted out. There have been very few recent complaints, especially not about sags and runs that happened in the early days of the Model 3.

Panel gaps are better, but are still far from perfect. The Model 3 has more problems than the Model Y, but even the Model Ys typically have minor issues. Most are small enough that you wouldn't spot them unless looking, but now they have a legacy. Once you get a reputation people will be looking.

The whole MME v MY debate seems very reminiscent of the Ford Fusion Hybrid vs Prius debate.

About 10 years ago, I decided it was finally time to go hybrid.Toyota had been doing it for several years with the Prius, but Ford had this brand new FFH. I was all set on the Prius (3rd Gen) because of its superior MPG. Then I test drive it and was thoroughly unimpressed. The driving was wooden, the interior was cheap. I could feel the sacrifices made for that extra MPG. So I went with the FFH because it was way more fun to drive, and that turned out to be an excellent choice. It is still my daily driver over 10 years later and it will remain so until I get my MME.

I’ll take Tesla’s word that the MY is more efficient. I don’t care. The MME has too many advantages, from price to appearance to drivers side instrument cluster. And did I mention it looks a hell of a lot nicer?

The one huge advantage Tesla currently has is its Supercharger network, which does matter for the road trips I will occasionally take. But I expect Ford to catch up quickly given the investment it is making in EVs. But I just don’t care about the stats on post about slightly better efficiency, horsepower, etc. They’re just numbers on a page.

Finally, Tesla has one more similarity to the Prius: their owners have a certain zeal that seems to place a high priority on the message being sent by “driving a Tesla.”
Plus I can get AWD without paying for the most expensive model.

Although I have a Mach E coming, I went and looked at a Model Y. I hate the Y's looks, starting from the body shape.

Umm......there are tons of youtubers that did real world range tests with the Model Y and some that have gotten their hands on the Mach-E and the range on the Mach-E was definitely worse than the EPA and lower than the actual real world numbers of the Model Y. Do your research my friend. Tons of youtubers have done these tests already. Which is why this 1 Edmunds article stating the complete opposite is fishy.
Tons of youtubers have said there are fema camps in wal-mart basements and the president is a reptilian. You got any better sources?

Why does the Model 3 have more problems than the Y? You would think M3 construction would be dialed down to near perfection by now.

One guess is that the Model Y uses a large cast aluminum rear section, originally two castings joined and now a single large piece. The Model 3 uses a unibody made of stamped steel parts welded together. That results in many more places for build variances.

I'm not fully subscribed to that theory. Build jigs should avoid tolerance stacking of the unibody, and many of the badly aligned parts can be adjusted by after-sale service calls. I think that the problem is a combination of too few self-alignment keys in the design, no or insufficient final assembly jigs, and not enough time allocated to manual adjustments at the end of the line.

The media blows it out of proportion. Tesla's philosophy is ship it now, fix it later, so they have the service centers remedy a lot of the issues. Once the service center fixes those initial issues (it's called a Due Bill), usually there's not much of an issue and the ownership is typically smooth sailing. I had some issues on mine at pickup, Tesla fixed them, and the car's been fine. I don't expect any visits to the service center for maybe 2-3 years, to swap out the cabin filter, possibly a 12v battery. At 4 years, brake fluid flush. At 6 years, A/C service. There some random issues with various sensors, inverters, motors, etc but those aren't widespread.

If people actually took JD Power's results seriously we'd all be buying Chevys, according to the awards they show on the commercials.

Dude, I get it, you don't like Teslas. You don't need to post it every hour.
