I can't say this is legal in TX, but we have a pilot program in CA that allows us to use a special license plate wrap that's metallized so that it shows up nicely on traffic cameras since we have a similar law that requires front plates. Depending on where you are, you could likely get away with not running a front plate. Many in CA do not run with a front plate. I live in a place where I'd get a ticket pretty much right away so I bought the wrap (which led to me getting pulled over 5 times in the first week, then never again). ?āI just purchased received license plates
Wht do you guys recommend for texas houston residents if i its obligation to put front license since needs to drill holes in front of, looks like tesla and teslas electric dont have front plates plz suggest
Itās just a bunch of cars. ā The Nice Guys (2016)I lived in Dallas for 30 years. A bunch of my cars didnāt have a front plate, never got harassed for it.
but that LOOKS HIDEOUS! I would rather take the ticket!I can't say this is legal in TX, but we have a pilot program in CA that allows us to use a special license plate wrap that's metallized so that it shows up nicely on traffic cameras since we have a similar law that requires front plates. It doesn't look all that bad to me. Besides, here in CA, you can't legally get the ticket signed off until you demonstrate that the issue is corrected. Even if you have a LEO friend that will sign it off fo you, you still have to pay the fine and you will get cited again if you drive in a high-probability area for this kind of ticket (I live in one such area). Then you have to pay another fine and another and another... Not worth the headache. ?ābut that LOOKS HIDEOUS! I would rather take the ticket!
In Colorado we have the same front plate requirement. Many people don't like front plates or put them on because it ruins the look of the car for them. In Colorado, no one messes with you if you don't have a front plate, but you will be cited for not having it if stopped for other reasons like speeding. You are running a very high risk of getting a parking ticket for not having one when parked at meters or other enforced parking zones. I personally wish there was more strict enforcement and front plate use was more consistent. Too many times we see accidents or other incidents where a car can't be identified due to a lack of a front plate.Texas requires a front plate. You should have received the mount (look in your trunk). The dealer can mount it. Teslas have front brackets and the same requirements. A lot donāt mount them. Itās up to you if you want to risk it. Iām in a state that requires it as well, but I leave mine off. Many teslas I see donāt have them installed, some do.
There are two holes in the bracket for rivets. There are matching dimples in the urethane front bumper cover. Drill the dimples, line up the bracket's holes with the new holes in the front bumper, insert and set rivets. ??<SNIP>
Yeah, plate bracket comes with the car. And is required by law to be supplied at not cost in all the states that require a front plate. I have not looked at the bracket or how it mounts, but should since we'll be getting plates for our new Mach-E any day now.
