My 12v was showing 15% life at 3 1/2 years so I replaced before the dreaded lock-out.
Where and how was your 12v showing 15% life? Was this the output of a capacity test or does the car have a PID for this?

No, because I only have 10.1.1 on my 2021 and got the alert.

What’s odd is I just checked the voltage out of curiosity.

Car has been sitting overnight, not charging. I unlocked popped the frunk…… 14.55v

That tells me it’s currently being charged by the HVB??? ?‍♂

I’ll check it again in a bit.
Yes the car will charge the LVB from the HVB when the LVB falls to about 40% SOC. It used to shut off many of the modules, including the modem, when it did this, but now I think it will charge the LVB a few times before going into deep sleep mode.

I don't think most people care about the battery warranty.
What they do care about is a real-time notification that the 12 Volt is nearing end of life and it's time for replacement.

Prior to this it has been a guessing game of how old the battery is, charging sequences, and climate location, etc.

The dealer checking any 12V battery has never been a good gauge of battery life.
It's a snap shot.

This is better.
It could be better if we knew what the message actually means and what the parameters are. It’s too vague.

The car knows the voltage and charge level. Just tell us the numbers so we can monitor it.

This should not need a trip to a dealer if they gave us the data.

You’ve been on borrowed time for a few months. Next fall is when 2022s should be changing batteries

In Miami too, though the car is mostly in the garage as you can tell from mileage. Plan on taking it in tomorrow

So I just sent a text to the EV Advisor asking them to check the soc on my 12v They text back that the soc is 61% and voltage is 12.4 volts. I have 2023 that I bought used in March and it currently has 18,500 miles. It has been parked since 10 this morning. Do I need to get it replaced?

My advisor just told me I'm @ 66%. I'm not driving a whole bunch right now, so I'm assuming that's an ok amount for how old my Mach is (2 1/2 yrs old - Jan, 2023). But who knows ?‍♂

Will try to go for a long ride on Sunday and check it again on Monday.

I'm not 100% clear if this is enabled for all Mach-E's yet (or just a subset), but the current recall may have something to do with it. For now, I'm still going to recommend 12V battery replacement every 3-5 years to mitigate risk.
I suspect replacement at 3-4 years is more like it. Mine only made it 50 months past delivery.

Did you get the "Check 12V battery" message or not? You can't determine if the battery is bad from just the voltage and SoC.

I did not get the message. I only asked them because I was curious

This message is all I would need. I probably would check a health-o-meter because if you give me the data, I’ll watch it. But I’m also the guy who posts on car forums, so I don’t know if frequent data checks are a good use of anyone’s time. Would I know the difference between 60% and 65% health?

The binary is probably better for most people. Do in need to replace it or not?

For something this important, I hope they increase the annoyance factor. Like announce it every week until replacement.
