How long does it take for the "Check 12-Volt Battery" alert to go away after replacing the battery?

Just came back from the dealership after getting the battery replaced. I'm still seeing the "Check 12-Volt Battery" alert on Fordpass. Does it take some time to go away or did they forget to re-set something?

It's also possible that the new battery they put in had been sitting on a shelf for long enough that it needs to be charged.

I don't have an authoritative answer to your question, but the times that my LVB has gotten low and showed a warning, charging it took care of it. If you haven't added charging access points in your frunk, it's not so easy to throw a battery charger on it.

However, the LVB will charge when your HVB is actively charging. So if your HVB is close to full, go drive a bunch to deplete your HVB and then plug in to charge, and it will charge your LVB at the same time.

Also, if you happen to have an OBDII adapter and something like CarScanner, you can actually look at your LVB charge level.

I recently used an OBDll adapter and car scanner and it showed me 96% SOC for my LVB. This is after doing a Level 2 charge to 80%. Is this normal? What is a normal SOC for the LVB?

This isn't the alert saying that the current voltage of the 12V is low and needs to be charged, it's the alert saying that the battery is degraded overall and needs to be replaced. I believe it's a newly added alert.

Ahh, my mistake! Yes, I believe you are correct that it is a new feature, and now I *really* don't have an answer for you. Sorry! It may be so new that the techs don't even know that they need to reset it... ?‍♂

  1. Quit FordPass and reboot your phone.
  2. If the alert doesn't go away in several days, reset the BMS.
  3. If the alert still doesn't go away in another several days, have the new battery tested by your dealer in case it is also bad.

Sent this feedback to our team. Currently it can take up to a couple weeks for the model to "relearn" the new battery. The team is already working on refinements to have it do this faster.

I just read the 12v battery recall FAQ that Ford posted. In it, it says that FordPass may take a few days or a week to "relearn" the new battery and remove the alert.

I went through this same experience with the 12v battery warning remaining in the app after a replacement was installed. I contacted support through the app and, after some further checking, was told it takes 3-5 days for the message to disappear once the dealership has closed the case.

My app is now clear of the warning.

It took my car 3 weeks to update alert on the app. Nice to see Ford recognize this and fix the message timing as its driving people to bother dealers.

Warning just went away, 5 days later, didn't have to reset the BMS myself.
